I own a Dell M6500 with a slot load DVD burner and the first thing I noticed was that the drivers come on a mini CD. First, I tried to see if windows 7 would automatically detect the device as I inserted it into the express card slot. Unfortunately, windows 7 was unable to find the proper drivers, so I needed to somehow get the drivers off the mini CD. After several attempts at trying to insert the mini CD into the slot load DVD burner and almost getting it stuck, I realized I had an old laptop with a tray slot DVD burner. The CD contained 6 folders: FL100 USB3.0, NEC USB3.0, SIL3132, SIL3132RAID, SIL3512, and VIA USB2.0 CARD Driver. I installed the 64-bit FL100 USB3.0 and the NEC USB3.0 drivers. I'm not sure the 64-bit FL100 USB3.0 are necessary as the express card didn't work until I installed the NEC USB3.0 drivers.
On to the performance:
I used ATTO Disk Benchmark and CrystalDiskMark to test the performance on various USB devices.
LaCie Minimus 2TB USB3.0 External HDD:
CrystalMark - 108.1MB/s sequential read and 81.13MB/s sequential write.
ATTO - 110.7MB/s peak read and 74.7MB/s peak write
Western Digital Elements 1TB USB2.0 External HDD:
CrystalMark - 31.53MB/s sequential read and 28.58MB/s sequential write.
ATTO - 32.1MB/s peak read and 29.4MB/s peak write
Super Talent USB3.0 Express DUO 16GB:
CrystalMark - 53.92MB/s sequential read and 28.88MB/s sequential write.
ATTO - 54MB/s peak read and 34.9MB/s peak write
OCZ Rally2 8GB USB2.0:
CrystalMark - 31.43MB/s sequential read and 11.02MB/s sequential write.
ATTO - 30.9MB/s peak read and 10.7MB/s peak write
Team X101 32GB USB 3.0:
CrystalMark - 109.5MB/s sequential read and 43.53MB/s sequential write.
ATTO - 111.61MB/s peak read and 46.1MB/s peak write
Conclusion: The product does what it's supposed to and doesn't stick out as much as some other USB3.0 express cards look like they do. On another note, I had to be careful pulling out the USB devices as it would pull out the entire express card if not done carefully.

Got this for my Lenovo Thinkpad X220, mostly to fill in the gap as my palm rest had already broke with that empty cavity of the Express Card slot. As I ordered a replacement palm rest I made sure to get something to put in there so I don't end up with another broken palm rest, so why not some extra USB 3.0 ports? I haven't used this extensively, but it seemed to work just fine although I haven't done a benchmark and only used a USB 3.0 thumb drive to test each port (I haven't used the included USB power cable with it yet). It was detected and worked just fine under Xubuntu Linux.

Installation was easy. The USB 3.0 Expresscard worked immediately and didn't have any problem when connected to USB 3.0 external hard diver. Its the right fit for expresscard. Its a little bit hard to be reomved but that makes it not pulling out when unplugging the USB cable (Image is included on the product description). However. The transfer speed was exactly as it is in USB 2.0. I thought it could be a power issue, so I connected the power adapter that came with the item but nothing changed. Transfer rate is between 12MB to 30MB/sec which is equivalent what I get from USB 2.0.. Tried everything possible nut nothing worked. My laptop is Thinkpad X201 with Expresscard 2.0 which support much higher speeds.

Now I came to update my review. I gave the product 5 stars.
I updated the driver from 2.1.28.0 to 2.1.32.0 (not available from the company. Found it in a forum) and flashed the new firmware 3.0.28 while the original firmware was 3.0.25 (Also not available from the vendor). Now I am getting higher speeds.
I downloaded HD Tune Pro which tests the speed of any USB drive. I connected my USB3 HDD to an USB 2.0 and ran test drive. The result I got are as follow : Read 31MB / Write 26MB with a maximum speed of writing to 50MB. Transfer time for 665MB almost 1.5 minutes. Then I connected the HDD to the USB 3.0, ran test drive and got the following result: Read 110MB/ Write 55MB with a maximum speed of writing up to 110MB. Transfer time: 0.5 minute.
I uploaded four images (find the images within the product images up in the left corner of the product description page). an image showing that it fits right to the expresscard. Another one for the update for the driver and firmware. Third image for the read/write speed and the time to transfer over USB 2.0. And finally, the read/write speed and the time to transfer over USB 3.0.
Not the speed expected from USB 3.0 but this is due to the limitation of the expresscard while I do have ExpressCard 2.0
I blame the company for not including the updates for the driver and firmware in their website. I am not sure if I am allowed to post links for the updates here or not. reply to this post if you need the links.

Installed fine in Windows 10 x64 without any pre-driver installation. Windows 10 has a driver for this card already, I just plugged it in. I am able to use the USB port without any issues, although I haven't tested the speed yet.
Similar to other reviews, I really don't like that the whole card pulls out when pulling out an attached USB plug. I have to remember to put my finger over it to hold it in.
Update: After having this card a few days, I have noticed it is unable to resume function after my laptop goes to sleep, causing me to have to restart. Given that these cards are supposed to go in laptops, putting it to sleep while transporting is very common and the reset is a big enough hassle for me to return it and lower my review by a star.

It's really not s***ty. Seriously... my transfers speeds exceed 150MB/s... that's quite an improvements over my USB 2.0's 22MB/s. Yes, if you push the USB port in too hard while plugging a device in, you could inadvertently eject the express card. I've found that having a delicate touch solves this problem easily. Also, the USB plugs are a little loose... but... if they weren't, than I would have a lot more complaints about the problem with the card ejecting that I mentioned above.
In conclusion: I see that people have had issues with this card because of how it fits... etc. I honestly can't imagine a design that works much better given the size of the card slot, and the way the card physically mounts. If I wanted a USB 3.0 port with slightly less risk of the cable being pulled out, then I should probably buy a laptop that comes with one. Beggars can't be choosers.
