Back to the Epson Expression Photo HD XP-15000 Wireless Color wide-format printer. True to the advertising, it is at least 30% smaller than any previous 13x19 I've owned. The last HP I used was a beast, and barely fit on my printer stand. The XP-15000 is so compact it can fit on a chair if need be. That's a big plus. It uses 6 inks though. I'm not sure how the cost for those will play out over the long term.
Unboxing was fairly straight forward, but it does take time. From unpacking the printer to having it fully operational took me over an hour of concentrated effort. Tweaking everything takes a while. It arrived well and securely packaged, and getting all the tape and padding off before engaging power can pose a challenge. Starter inks are included and I'm not sure how long they'll last. The cartridges are fairly straightforward to install. Epson also provides samples of 3 different kinds of paper stock in addition to using plain white paper, so you should be able to start printing amazing photos right out of the box. They are 8.5 x 11 sheets, so if you want 13x19, you need to invest in some quality paper.
As mentioned, the set-up process takes some time, but if you follow the steps as prescribed by the included instructions (in a number of languages), you should be fine. Be sure to have paper inserted *face down* when printing to photo paper, otherwise you get a smudgy, blurry mess. That is my fault for not fully reading the directions. Something to note though is when I had both photo and plain paper loaded to the internal tray, the plain paper stuck to the photo paper and I printed to two sheets rather than one. Keep the paper tray pure with whatever primary stock you wish to use. That said, the XP-15000 prints very nice full bleed images to regular office plain white paper stock. However, It really shines on glossy photo paper. This is a quality printer and it prints quality photos, and it also does a fair job of rendering simple b&w text and other basic stuff when you want to print from the web or a word processing program.
I will say that connecting it to my home Wi-Fi network took some time to tweak and get working properly. I am not using this a connected printer, so it is purely on my network via Wi-Fi. Once I got it all synced up, I was able to print from my iPhone, my wife's MacBook Air, and my HP Envy laptop with no issues. Just select the printer from your list of available printers, and drivers will be installed. All should work well.
My one real gripe with the Epson XP-15000 is that it uses a manual, push-button interface rather than a touch screen. The LED screen is rather small and not the easiest to read. I have a much less expensive wireless all-in-one HP printer that has a larger touch screen and thus sports a very easy to manipulate interface. The Epson's reliance on directional buttons to navigate seems rather backward and old school, making simple tasks more complicated than they need to otherwise be. This archaic method is how things used to be for years, and though it still works it no longer feels intuitive.
On the whole, I'm very impressed with the quality and like using the XP-15000. Once everything is set up and the printer is connected to your home Wi-Fi network, it is simple to choose and use. Just make sure you have the paper loaded correctly.

T312XL Cyan ink is backorder for months at Epson.ca and not available at Staple near my home.
Actually printer is out of service because of the empty blue cartridge. The printer won't even print a black and white document unless all cartidges have remaining ink. **Epson blocks all printing as soon as one of the cartridges is almost empty.** This is not honest from Epson it's unacceptable.
I read that piezo type of printer can print black&w if a color cartridge is empty unless company blocks it.
I tried to choose print black/white etc on the Win10 printer driver setting with no success. No solution at Epson phone line support.
I can't count on this expensive printer so it's not reliable.
While I must print elsewhere, Epson does not make me use Epson black ink that I've bought ...how to shoot in the foot.
I'm not satisfied and I won't recommend Epson to anybody.
Would have been even better if Epson also had a photo editing profile/add on for Photoshop or Lightroom to enhance your photographs just like some other brands do.
The only issue I have with the printer is there was no CD printing plastic tray in the box. I was so excited to print on CD/DVD's for my personal creations an now I cannot do that.
Now, make the ink available and less expensive Epson! They are hard to find for this model.
The set up was straight forward the operation was quite different from my epson 800 series photo printer and took some getting used to all in all a great upgrade for me.
