There were ink blotches all over the clear parts of metal (and they wouldn't clean out), there seemed to be unusual depressions in the inner and outer center, were the bowl was "turned". Therefore, i can not call it beautiful. Definitely not at all suitable for a present.
The sound was very dull and had a lot of rattle to it, as if the bowl was very much out of balance.
No it was not due to poor wooden striker. I used my own to try and see if it made any difference in sound.
I own a few singing bowls (though none in this price range), and never experienced this before as i always picked them up in person. Perhaps it's just not a great idea to buy them online.
In any case, there was one thing i did like about the bowl - it's weight. It was slightly heavier then another bowl i own in similar size.
Again, it is possible i got a "lemon", but this bowl didn't seem to get much love. I'm sorry to say i will be sending it back.
It sounds beautiful. The bowl has a peaceful ring to it, and can actually get quite loud! For me, it was extremely easy to get sound out of it- like I said I am new to singing bowls and this is the first one I've ever owned.
The shipping was extremely fast, and it even arrived earlier then it was supposed to. The bowl is small, it perfectly fits in my palm. The painting on the outside and inside is a little messed up (I mean very little), but it is still very beautiful. It comes with a wooden mallet as well. It DOESNT come with the cushion pictured, so just be aware. I had thought it came with it when I initially ordered it-
TIPS FROM ONE NEWBIE TO ANOTHER**
For those having trouble getting it to make sound, it's important to have your palm flat and fingers spread out flat, so it's NOT cupping the bowl. The fingers around the bowl will prevent sound from coming out. Start off slow with the mallet to practice building that sound, and go around the rim.

I love this product. My Buddha statues all have their heads super glued on, courtesy of my toddler. My beads are always being broken. Read morePublished 4 days ago by Autumn
As my first Tibetan singing bowl, I have to admit that it took me a while to learn how to play it, but now I thoroughly enjoy it and use it for meditation almost every day.Published 13 days ago by Amazon Customer
The singing bowl is just okay. The wooden striker is just a piece of wood and this did not come with a cushion. It could have been much better.Published 18 days ago by Amazon Customer
