This is a good quality, useful instrument, but it does not include an RS232 interface, or any other computer connection. If you just need a fairly inexpensive digital thermometer, the EA10 is a good buy.

If you need to log data to a computer, you will need something else, such as the more expensive EA15.

The Extech EA10 is cheap and works fine for certain applications. It was cheaply built though. Compared to my fluke it weighted no where close to the same. I guess this could be expected because it was also 1/3 the price. The probes that I received were low quality and not accurate at all. I do all my testing with hot and cold. Anything above zero was fine but once you dropped it in something like liquid nitrogen it was very inaccurate. It read almost 50c off. Of course you can buy other probes for a relatively cheap price. Getting into the batteries was a little hard to do with the stand. The readout worked good besides the fact that it was slow to update the temps. I would say if you are looking for a cheap thermometer for something like grilling or heating metals then this would do you well. Just no sub-zero applications.
