CONS: Constant white-noise in background, not loud, but noticeable. Stereo audio is turned into mono combined. Video and audio timing sync drifts apart after about 45 mins, is noticeable when people talk. For some reason it automatically splits file after a certain amount of time - hour(?). Picture brightness is a little high, black is a little gray.

PROS: It didn't catch on fire.

Very easy to use. Works well. Bought this to convert some old VHS home movies to digital format and it is very easy to use. Simple one button start/stop operation. One note to be aware of, however: while the recorder will connect to stereo audio input (red and white RCA connections) the files produced appear to be single channel (mono) only, so it looks like it's combining the audio channels in the recording. Overall, works for my needs.
Update: When converting longer videos (school plays, etc.) I've found the files have issues with the audio syncing up with video.

Works well. I had been wanting to transfer and convert our family's mini dv tape collection of which some tapes are at least 10 years old into video files. I tried a couple of the USB video capture devices sold on Amazon and I even tried hooking up my Canon Mini DV camcorder from the camcorder's DV port to a firewire card, but couldn't transfer the video. I read some reviews that the card did not work on Windows 10. Luckily, Amazon has great customer service and I returned the card and the capture devices. Lastly, I tried the Pyle capture video recorder. So far, this is the best decision I've made for my video transfers. It also came with a 4GB micro card. Couldn't be happier! Buy it, you'll be convinced too.

EASY MAYBE, BUT DIDNT WORK

it looks like a lot of people had good luck with this product. I however did not. I followed the teeny instructions to the letter. Hooked it up to my VCR correctly, plugged into the little recording device, then the USB into the power cord (which isn't in the instructions, how else can you power it?) Power light came on, pushed record, dead crickets, absolutely nothing. emailed the company, no reply in 24 hours. Called the support number and explained the problem. The tech asked me when I hooked it up did I also hook it to the computer to record it on there? I had to laugh, (that's not in the in instructions) then he proceeded to ask me 3 times what had I plugged it into? I really dislike it when "customer support" doesn't listen to what you have told them, then makes you repeat it. this guy was all over the place with this product. I said you do not seem to know anything about this product, give me to someone who does, he mumbled something, then said the product must be defective and I need to send it back for repair, I said no, a refund....... this is the second vhs to dvd converter I have purchased this week that hasn't worked...... all I want to do is save memories of my father who passed away 2 years ago. I am not a happy camper. thanks for letting me vent
