MSGT Joe Fitzpatrick (Fitzy) is in charge of the team and has been given permission by Beckham to take Apollo along with him. A blinding snow storm greets them almost upon arrival with swirling snow and nasty winds. Team Fox is led by SGT Mapes and he is not happy to be in Greenland. He is also disheartened that this team has 4 new Marines on it. Difficult for a leader to trust a new team until their worth is proven.
This is a very fast paced book from the first page to the last. Team Ghost encounters a problem and right on the heels of that one, Team Fox is in dire straits, as well. Not many 'OORAHS' are heard in this one.
Despite the gore and the blood in this book, I did laugh a couple of times. Once was when Fitzy was trying to put the dog boots on Apollo! Good dog, Apollo. (That reminded me of the one time I tried the boots with a boxer pup. Never again for me....). My second laugh was when Mapes said he wasn't 'dying on this turd of ice'. He absolutely hated his assignment in Greenland and these words certainly did express his thoughts about his location well.
Although a short read, it illustrated once again that MSGT Fitzpatrick is a leader of Team Ghost. An OORAH from me shouted out to Team Ghost!
Most highly recommended.
I wonder if another full book is forthcoming from Mr. Smith? I do hope so.
