Summary: super fast, works as promised, built well, very difficult to control the unit (for beginners like me). Buy spare batteries.
It's smart enough to stay more or less level. But that's where its brains end and the troubles begin. Unlike the DJI Phantom, or even the Parrot, it has no notion of station keeping or hovering in place. You must fly it continuously and delicately, or it will get away from you quickly.
The controller does not help. It arrives untrimmed. The instructions attempt to walk the user through a process adjusting each joystick axis. The problem is the adjustments are not orthogonal. In the course of correcting one problem, you can aggravate another one. And consistently inserting the battery pack into the undercarriage is not something the drone will help you with. So replacing the battery could subtly change the balance of the drone.
After making a best effort at this set of adjustments, I took it outdoors. The throttle is decidedly not linear. The sensitivity of the other control axes are similar. The response of the drone is immediate and dramatic. The little drone shot away across the field and was lost in high grass. Did I mention that it is small? Yes, I did. I didn't mention that it's only lights are downward-facing. Hours of beating the bush did not flush it out.
It came in and I followed the directions to assemble the drone, battery and camera. It wanted to drift regardless of the adjustments I made which was a bummer but THE MAIN ISSUE IS THE QUALITY OF THE WIRING.
I flew it for a total of 2 minutes and since there isn't an on/off switch you have to unplug the battery. I did - then today I plugged it in and noticed that it would only light up if the wires were jiggled (obviously a break in the solder or something). I know it's price is attractive but I'm really disappointed in the overall quality. I wish I had waited for the 3.0 version which from the commercial...seems to be better.
Now I'm returning this one and I got to throw away shipping costs :(
