Michael Bazzell has helped hundreds of celebrities, billionaires, and everyday citizens completely disappear from public view. He is now known in Hollywood as the guy that “fixes” things. His previous books about privacy were mostly REACTIVE and he focused on ways to hide information, clean up an online presence, and sanitize public records to avoid unwanted exposure. This textbook is PROACTIVE. It is about starting over. It is the complete guide that he would give to any new client in an extreme situation. It leaves nothing out, and provides explicit details of every step he takes to make someone completely disappear, including document templates and a chronological order of events. The information shared in this volume is based on real experiences with his actual clients, and is unlike any content ever released in his other books.

About the author

Michael Bazzell investigated computer crimes on behalf of the government for over 20 years. During the majority of that time, he was assigned to the FBI’s Cyber Crimes Task Force where he focused on various online investigations and open source intelligence (OSINT) collection. As an investigator and sworn federal officer through the U.S. Marshals Service, he was involved in numerous major criminal investigations including online child solicitation, child abduction, kidnapping, cold-case homicide, terrorist threats, and advanced computer intrusions. He has trained thousands of individuals in the use of his investigative techniques and privacy control strategies.
After leaving government work, he served as the technical advisor for the first season of the television hacker drama Mr. Robot. His books Open Source Intelligence Techniques and Extreme Privacy are used by several government agencies as training manuals for intelligence gathering and privacy hardening. He now hosts the weekly Privacy, Security, and OSINT Show, and assists individual clients in achieving ultimate privacy, both proactively and as a response to an undesired situation. Details about his company’s services can be found online at IntelTechniques.com.

One con: I don't care for the big, floppy book format as I find it hard to read away from a table. I am gong to cut off the binding, have it 3-hole punched, and put it in a binder.
Good luck on your privacy journey.
Who is the book for? I would say everyone. There are a million reasons why privacy is important, you don't need to be a journalist or activist to need privacy. Your environment could change at any minute requiring you to know a few techniques that will ensure you are not tracked or followed by any kind of bad actor.
But how much are you willing to pay for your privacy / security? (Or the loss of it.)
Especially at this day and age, when the Bolsheviks are barging into former U.S. President's estate (!) to sniff through his wife's panties Tony Soprano mob-style?
Buy it TODAY. Thank Mr. Bazzell TOMORROW.

I’ve also got other books from the author and they have never failed to deliver on useful content.
From your electronic devices, to navigating the legal framework & holding assets in trusts & other corporate structures.
This book will give you the knowledge you need to take your privacy journey as far as you're comfortable going, & I would consider it a must read in our age of surveillance.
My only criticism is that is is very focused on the American audience, & the laws & corporate options in other countries will vary greatly. However this does not make the laws useless. One example is Nomad Residency, while you'll have more options in America, this can serve to open your mind & give you idea about how you can adapt the methods in this book to be applicable in your situation.
From the point of digital surveillance, that is fairly universal wherever you are in the world & you will still receive a great benefit from the tools & strategies presented here.
Overall, I highly recommend this book, if you are just getting into privacy I would advise looking at other resources first, maybe on YouTube or through the authors podcast, dip your toes into the water first, but one you're ready to take things to an extreme (as the titled suggests), this book or its most recent edition will be the most useful resource you can get your hands on. 10/10!
HOWEVER! Three quarters of the content will only work in the USA. Which is, to be fair, often repeated by the author himself. Hence one star off, as warning. One quarter of the content can be applied right away and does make a big impact immediately, regardless of location. The rest...well, best case scenario you get a Useful Idea, and it is up to you to see if it is even possible where you live. In Germany, I can tell, 3/4 of solutions are simply impossible. This is a Country that does not accept its own driving licences as ID, so yeah, good luck finding grey zones for anonymity.
The main outcome of the book has been to make me deeply angry: it brought to my attention how much has been taken away in just one decade and how much is the trend accelerating. Also, it got me banned from an online shop after I strengthened my anonymity, ahah.
Definitely buy the book.
