To inflame the desire for war, AEON's Indian patsy, Rao, uses Indian forces to attack the Indian embassy making it seem like it was the work of Pakistani terrorists. Killing his own countrymen doesn't bother him because "sacrifices are necessary."
Since Pakistan is (at least putatively) an American ally, the conspirators have the terrorist group ISOK attack the American embassy in India killing almost everyone. It is made to look like Pakistan was behind the attack and this is viewed by the US as an act of war.
As India and Pakistan prepare for nuclear war, and the President decides how to respond, the Project team suspects that there is more here than meets the eye. Of course, they do eventually figure it out, but it really comes down to the wire.
This book was one of my favorite in the series. National, racial and religious hatred has long been a basis for war, and I found the concept of inflaming these passions to incite nuclear war quite chilling, particularly, because the inevitable war between India and Pakistan and the death of millions was merely incidental to the agenda of the bad guys.
The next book in the Project series won't be available until sometime next year. You can be sure I will be one of the first to get it.
The action is fantastic in his book.s This author writes action like no other I've read. They are exciting, make you feel like you're right there with the characters, but - and this is the amazing part - the action does not go on and on and on like in some others of this genre. The action written is just right, without belaboring it to death. I just love this author. My my very humble opinion - Mr. Lukeman is the best indy author out there for this genre.
In a raid in the Philippines at the beginning of "The Eye of Shiva," the Project finds a small fortune in ancient gold coins in a terrorist stronghold. The question is: "Where did the coins come from?" The discovery of these ancient coins peaks the interest of Elizabeth Harker, Director of The Project. Additionally, this discovery sets the Project team on a collision course with a ruthless terrorist organization, AEON, a group with a devious plan to use India's hatred of Pakistan to spark a nuclear war. So slowly the fun begins as Lukeman's finely crafted plot unfolds.
"The Eye of Shiva" is a fast paced novel (and series). The struggle of Nick and Selena's relationship while maintaining a working relationship is once again brought out in this installment in the series (again, it is better to read the series in order!). The whole team, Nick, Selena, Ronnie, Lamont, Elizabeth, and Stephanie, is here to face off with another unknown foe. Ideology, misplaced trust, dishonesty all play into the growing tense situation. Alex Lukeman's writing does not disappoint, and I am looking forward to continue reading this series. I already have ordered next book in the series, so "yes," I strongly do recommend this series to you. So, perhaps it is time for you to read one too?
