From there I was flung into the too-good-to-be-true world of Sunshine. The contrasts between Sunshine and Eilida were stark, and the author kept me guessing as to whether a relationship existed between them. I will give no spoilers here. Ms. Klass did a terrific job of keeping me in the dark in this paranormal thriller until she was ready to shine bits of light where she chose: hints, nuances, and teasers of what was to come skittered up my spine. No sloppy reading allowed with this story so rich in detail and well-placed crumbs along the murky trail. I had to pay attention and follow along as each puzzle piece snapped into place and ultimately rewarded me with the complete picture.
I really wasn’t sure how Eye of the Storm was going to end. The author kept me guessing until she was ready to raise the curtain for the finale. I have to say I was very pleased that Eilida got the ending she deserved. This is one character who had suffered enough. Well done, Ms. Klass!
I had the awesome experience to listen to the audio book. The narrator did a fantastic job. Her voice was soothing and tone changed between the characters flawlessly. Overall I really enjoyed my audio experience and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good suspense.
My jaw is still on the ground after listening to this book. I was impressed with the story. It listens fast and keeps you engaged the entire time. I liked the characters. I found them to be believable and connected to them. My favorite part was the ending because it was completely unexpected. My mouth hurts because my jaw dropped so low for so long. It was amazing. I really enjoyed this and plan on sharing it with my suspense loving friends.
Klass apparently has a streak of playful wit as she sets up her story for her readers. Be sure you read every word of her book carefully or you’ll miss it. I did, until a fellow reader explained. Klass plants her challenge, and buries deep other nuances for the reader to figure out. After all, you’ve now entered Elle Klass’s mystical world.
Fans of the paranormal genre will welcome Eye of the Storm to their reading shelf. It’s a fresh take on the off-center, the off-kilter, and the unexplainable world without the clear-cut boundaries of reality.
But Klass is not content to deliver a neat little cookie-cutter story for her readers. Instead the ending is the beginning of yet another mystery with an edge as sharp and penetrating as a precision scalpel, and yet as murky as the mystical twilight zone.
Writing about things or an “existence” that reeks with the unexplainable must be difficult and a challenge for a writer. I tip my eReader to Klass’s debut entry into the paranormal genre and give her Five Stars for Eye of the Storm.
I am looking forward to reading more of Elle Klass's books.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Eilida’s curiosity gets piqued when she hears a disturbance at her neighbor’s house. Instead of minding her own business, she decides to investigate. But the scene at the house is so shocking she runs into the mountains, while a thunderstorm breaks out overhead. After slipping on the wet floor, she plummets down and slams into a large boulder. Then she’s transported to Lyden, where a woman named Sunshine becomes engrossed in her story, and their lives become more entangled than either of them thought possible.
The book left me guessing until the end. Both Eilida and Sunshine are engaging characters, but it was the plot, and the questions piling up that was most interesting to me. If the author can come up with any more of these gems, I’ll gladly read them. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
