Luckily, Keenai seems to support eyefi just fine - at least for what I needed it - synchronization of photos with my phone while I shoot the photos. However not sure if all other features work.
I do need to manually connect to the eyefi WiFi every time I want the photos to get transferred to the phone. Not sure if other cards like Transcend make it smoother.
When you get immediate feedback (you figure out what pictures look good and which edit well) you:
1) become a much better photographer.
2) get feedback (visually or other) while you're still there - you can make adjustments on the fly
3) learn what a good picture is and what isn't ... and when.
4) learn what settings to use on your camera based on conditions.
5) get all the good vibes of photography immediately.
Otherwise you'll wait a few days (or weeks) to download all the pictures at once. You'll be a bit over-stimulated and won't learn as much. You'll not have the chance to correct any mistakes ... it'll be too late.
Anyway, I love it. It's a great, great tool for photography and works really well. Love it.
I actually grew to love it. I used G+ photos to upload my photos then edited on my phone or tablet, then shared (instagram/facebook/picasa). The workflow involved with carrying a DSLR, taking photos, then finding time to take the SD card out, download the photos, then delete/edit on PC, then upload and share was just not worth it. I wanted easy.
Here comes the EyeFi. I bought one about a year ago (X2), but it still didn't simplify my workflow, I still had to manually change my PC wifi to access the hotspot provided by the X2. Upload to PC was slow, then I had to manually disconnect and reconnect to my home Wifi network. Meh, it didn't simplify my workflow all that much.
So here comes the Mobi (I have the 8GB). Now this is just about perfect because over the years, my workflow really has changed. G+ autoupload on my android is just awesome for me. The Mobi gives me the EXACT experience! I downloaded the Mobi app (careful, there are two EyeFi apps in GooglePlay). Plugged in the 10 digit code, and off I went... wait what? I didn't have to manually connect my phone to the Mobi Wifi, then disconnect, and reconnect to Wifi... nope, it just works. Powered up my DSLR, shot photos (at home and at an event). I was used to powering down my DSLR immediately after shots, but I remembered that I should leave it on so it could complete transfers. I only shoot JPG (my camera is 12mp). I took 7-9 shots then waited a minute or less, then reached into my pocket to see that the app had already transferred all photos plus Google+ began an auto upload on the folder that the photos transferred into. In only minutes, my photos were up in G+ photos (full res). I just then used my phone interface, which is pretty awesome, to delete/edit/rearrange my photos 'in the cloud'. Wow, now that is 'automatic'. I'll be carrying my DSLR to events again. I only started using it recently when my cell camera failed and I was waiting on a replacement. Only then, I realized how much better the image quality was and I was just tricking myself that the cell camera was 'good enough' since it was so convenient for uploading and sharing. I now have the best of both worlds (now if I could only shrink my DSLR)
- The service is always running on my phone, so while at events, it'll transfer, but it'll probably drain the battery. I wish I could have a selective transfer option on the mobile app.
- uh... I can't think of really anything else, this was an awesome buy.
- I should've tried this workflow on the X2, I think it will be a similar experience. Oh well, I have two cameras so I might as well have two EyeFis.
This device is a battery drainer. It's the truth. It will kill your DSLR/point n shoot camera faster. What I did was turn off the wireless syncing to my phone until i actually needed shots to be sent...I also shot more efficiently so that the sync process wasn't taking long to get images that were shot at 5 FPS i.e. doubles, triples, etc.
The device when synced up to your phone will ALSO kill your phone battery faster. It's just the truth. But don't sync until you need to.
It's a class 10 SDHC cad so shooting speeds and video recording speeds will be great. You are able to access images fast too, as other Class cards like 6 and below are becoming too slow for today's standards.
If you are a photographer that wants to get images to a client with quick editing from a device for immediate response, this is for you. Oh! And it's built REALLY WELL. Feels rigid like a Sandisk Extreme.
