I purchased one of these from my local craft store to add 1/8" eyelets to my laminated keychains. However, I was disappointed to note that using the instruction's settings for 1/8" eyelets (Blocks C and 3), my eyelets were all being split and crushed on the back side, no matter how slowly or quickly I pressed the blocks together! After some research, I found a solution: use blocks C and 4 on 1/8" eyelets and avoid tears completely! I'll include a photo with my review for reference.

Hole punch works beautifully and makes a nice smooth hole, but keep an eye where the pieces fly (and they WILL fly)! After finishing a large project, I looked in the mirror and found three punched-out holes in my hair. I consider it more of an amusement than a problem, though.

Not very good for self backing grommets!

Was so disappointed in how it does the self backing grommets. It works great for the grommets with washers but I had to purchase other grommet pliers (pictuered) to do the self backing ones due to how horribly they are done with the Crop-A-Dial. They are jagged & just look smooshed some instead of all curled like they are with the other eyelett pliers. They even say in the instructions "the back side may be bent, or curled non-uniformly. This is normal". Well I have news for them I used their grommets & it's NOT normal to look that way. The other grommet pliers curl them up very nicely everytime! No matter how many times I try it (I waisted a lot of the grommets I bought from them trying) it Never happen with the self backing ones. If you use the ones with washers it works fine! I will even say the ones with washers look great but if you want to do the self backing & have them have smooth backs, especially in sewing, you need to get something else.

Most grommet setters are multiple pieces, require a hammer and are made for one size only. The Crop-a-dile has the ability to do both 1/8 and 3/16 eyelets (or 3 and 4 mm grommets), which is great in case a certain project needs a slightly bigger size.
The directions are easy to read and include pictures to help select the correct settings on the Crop-a-dile. It also has a tiny illustration on the tool itself to help you remember which way to position the grommets, which is very useful in the beginning.
The grommets I found here on amazon have worked out very well with my crop-a-dile.

What an easy product to use! I have very small hands so I thought it might be too tough to grip and close. It has such a smooth action. I use it for making cards. I use both eyelets alone and with washers. It does not work at all. It either crushed the whole thing with washer or splits the eyelet. I then used my old Dritz Pliers instead, you can see it next to the other one in the picture(s). Now to be honest/clear, I do have cheaper eyelets/washers I got years ago, not sure if it makes much difference if I buy their brand or a more expensive brand.
I purchased this mainly for the hole puncher and that works great. I have to give it 5 stars alone for that usage. Another thing is the opening is very small, even for my small fingers, it was hard to do much. YOu can see that between the two. So working with fabric can be tricky. I had the larger one of the brand before and same issues. I think it's just the way it's made. I will try to get some 1/8" later to try and update this review then.
