From a practical perspective, the book is a very easy read. Frederic's stories and natural, graceful writing style make it a very difficult book to put down. It really just pulls you in. Plan on finishing it in a single sitting, or maybe two at the most.
Another reviewer pointed out that this is a God-based book. I would like to add to that assessment that the understanding communicated throughout the book is that God is many things to many people. As Shakespeare so beautifully observed: "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." We at Empowerment Sanctuary like to use the phrase "The God of your understanding". Whether that Source Frederic calls God is better known to you as Goddess, Allah, Buddha, Mohamed, Jesus, Source, Creator, Universe, whatever...the message remains the same. Anyone who would choose to overlook a book because it refers to this energy as God, is choosing to overlook a wonderful opportunity to enrich their understanding and their very soul. Although the stories found within this beautiful book do reference God and Jesus throughout, it is not written, in my opinion, from a Christian perspective. Rather, the understanding communicated throughout the book is that this energy we call God and the soul we call Jesus is bigger than any one religion or the understanding of any one spiritual path. The messages found within this book and the style in which they are delivered are truly transformative for readers of any faith.
Take the NDE story for example. Mr. Delarue is able to describe his near death experience at the age of 12 with amazing detail and clarity. If you're interested in the NDE process, then you no doubt are aware that many who've experienced this have difficulty verbalizing the experience in any meaningful detail, or even being able to process the experience themselves for many years afterwords. This tends to leave us with no more than a glimpse of what happens when the body is dying, and always wanting to know more. Frustrating for the curious, as well as the one unable to articulate the experience.
Not so here. Mr. Delarue not only takes us through the process of his experience in great detail, but is also able to share with us how the experience transformed his life. We learn how he was able to take the lessons learned through this experience and apply them to his life and way of being in practical ways in order to create the life he was born to live. Amazing!
I was experiencing a grief process myself when this book made its way into my hands. Everything changed for me that day. My grief and sorrow were transformed to understanding and acceptance, and yes, even joy. I learned a new way to approach the loss of a loved one, and a new understanding of how deeply our sorrow hurts them, as they experience it with us. Never again will I approach a transitioning or transitioned soul with anything other than joy in my heart, lest I force upon them the experience of my own grief and sorrow. Learning to approach "death" in the same way we need to approach life, with joy and the freedom to allow all to be as it is meant to be, is life changing.
From the NDE, we go on to learn about Mr. Delarue's periodic life altering experiences, including an illness that left him temporarily paralyzed, and how he was able to apply what he learned during the NDE to enable himself to walk again. In reading his words, we are able to see just how easy it really is to shift our perspective in order to see the blessing of every experience.
This is really the main message that spoke to me through this book: that in all things there is a blessing. It may be difficult to see, but it is there nonetheless and we have only to choose to perceive it. Once we make that choice, those "hidden" blessings become easier and easier to see with each experience. It is in this way our lives are transformed and our spirits become free to create the life we were born to live.
A secondary message that may hit home for many is the truth that life is just easier when we allow spiritual guidance in our lives, regardless of what form that guidance takes. When we are open to perceiving guidance in any of the myriad of forms it might manifest as, we have less stress because we know we'll be given what we need to know, and that we aren't walking this journey alone.
I cannot recommend this book, and all of Mr. Delarue's music, highly enough. Too bad we're limited to only five stars. All of his work deserves more than that. It is with deepest gratitude that I thank Frederic Delarue for taking the time to write it and share it with the world. It is my hope that your experience in reading this book will be as transformative and healing for you as it has been for me.
But, back to the book: Frederic tells you his bio and provides a lot of really good spiritual-perspective advice. I'm not normally much on bios, BUT, I really enjoyed reading this one. Reading about his spiritual path not only helped me to validate some of my own experiences, but also helps you to better understand the beauty of the music. He explains not only his NDE, but some of the other things that happened to him. Where some people would have wallowed in self-pity or packed their heart with anger, Frederic chose to see God's hand in his life and to have faith that there was a reason for what happened that would reveal itself when the time was right. Much like the bird that begins singing long before the sunrise because he has faith that a new day is coming, Frederick chose to have faith in the Divine Plan that was designed for him alone.
This 225 page book is packed with spiritual advice that is RIGHT-ON, in my humble opinion. Frederic also provides his perspective on how each of his 7 CDs came into being and the intended meaning of the music in each. He talks about some landmarks he has found in the desert and on the mountainside. He discusses God, Jesus and the Angels often and how they have played an important part in his life and how they continue to do so. Let's not forget the dolphins, too. Frederic is also a dolphin-lover, as I am. His faith in God is steadfast. It does not change depending on what he has or does not have in the moment.
I would like to share some wisdom from his book, ". . . When I give my power to the ego or to anyone that has provoked anger in me, I lose my power and the strength of clarity and discernment. However, when I give my power to God, or to the Angels, I receive my strength back as I align my true self to the pure divine Creation. . . " So true, and there is much more wisdom within this book, based on Frederic's personal journey. (Seek to hold your peace, for the energy that you hold and send to others has a huge domino effect on many. If you hold and project anger, you permeate the air with it and touch many, many lives. Consciously watch the ripple effect one day.)
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and I highly recommend it. If you do not have any of his music, may I suggest you splurge a few bucks on your soul and buy the book and the CD of the same name. Check out my review on the CD, too. When I say the music is for your SOUL, I truly mean it. Music is a connection to the divinity of your soul, once you find the right music, the music that resonates with it. (And you know it when you find it.) I am sooooo happy that Frederic's book and music found me. I hope it finds you too.
