Shaggy 2 Dope gets far too little time when he's doing ICP tracks with Violent J who tends to hog the microphone. While I am a juggalo and I love ICP and their music, the fact is Shaggy is far superior when it comes to actual talent, skill, and writing and it's always upsetting when a new LP or EP comes out and 90% of it is just J. Shaggy's personal releases are all great but FTFOMF really epitomizes why he and ICP can remain relevant after decades of making music, his raw talent and humor are on full display here and this has some of the best music he's been involved in. If you're a juggalo, just a fan of ICP, or just someone into rap/hip hop who hasn't even heard of any of that, you should check this out - it's good regardless if you're already a fan or not and Shaggy will make you one all on his own.
If anyone is NOT familiar with Musical rap styling of the Insane Clown Posse (or, to the Juggalo family known as ICP), their genre is known as Horror core rap. Vulgar and graphic lyrics of death an dismemberment on display in a clever mix of comedy. They are talented rap duo and it takes a unique ear to appreciate their sound. In this release, one of the members of the ICP released a solo album and this album was a pretty good outing for Shaggy 2 Dope to strike out on his own in his own project. If someone is going to take a chance on this album it is good for the genre its in.
If you are a Fan of Insane Clown Posse Shaggy 2 Dope came out with a solo album. My brother pointed this out to me and told me he wanted it as a b-day gift so I said yeah. He's happy, I liked the music, I'm good with it.
Whole album is sweet. Beats are reminiscent of an era long over, when the beats were fire. Sounds like the old wicked clown stuff. I felt like i was listening to 90s rap again and it caught me right in the feels. Even if you are not a fan of shaggy or icp but you like old school rap you will probably still like this
For the first time, to me, it seems as if Shaggy has come to own his style. It is raw and great for it. It really reminds me of old-school rap, yet nothing boring about it. He is all-in on this album. Electric Kool Aid is my favorite track.
This is a banging classic. DJ Clay makes some amazing beats. He exceeded my expectations. And Shaggy spit as hard as he ever has. Violent J just schooled his verse.
Il aura fallu attendre 11 longues années pour avoir un nouvel album solo de Shaggy le clown. Le premier opus avait marqué les esprits lors de sa sortie. Pour en revenir à cette suite, nous avons un Shaggy toujours maître de son flow, la sonorité entière de l'album est purement hip hop, niveau prod Dj Clay est aux manettes et c est là où repose une part de la faille de ce FTFOMF... Les mélodies sont loin d'être mauvaises mais on est assez loin du rendu du LP précédent, Fritz The Cat, Mike E Clark etaient de la partie, et les juggalos savent que ça vaut pour gage de qualité, je ne serai peut etre pas objectif, mais dj Clay n a jamais été trop ma tasse de thé. Niveau featuring, il n y en a qu un et c est Violent J qui s y colle sur Foggin' Up the window, le rendu est efficace. FTFO etait bien plus fourni niveau feats... Il y a le titre Psychopathic Soldier, qui est probablement un des meilleurs sons de l album, véritable hymne à Psy, et diss indirect à MNE ( Twiztid et les autres qui ont fuits le navire Psy ), dernier point, le livret. Bah non, en fait y a pas de livret... quel dommage, autant la couverture est belle, Psy a engagé les services d'un artiste peintre anglais pour la réaliser, on aurait apprécié un livret digne de ce nom.
This is a solid LP effort by Shaggy. I wouldn't praise it as much as his earlier release of F.T.F.O. But ftfomf is a close second. Always glad to see shaggy put it down! Especially compared to some of the material being put out by Psy lately. If you have been down with the clown, or are a new fan, pick up this piece, you won't be disappointed.
