About F.D. Thornton
Born in Savannah, Georgia, F.D. Thornton is a Research Analyst and Blogger currently living in South Central Georgia. About ten years ago, to fulfill a 30 year dream, F.D. went back to college. During his time in school a number of advisers and fellow students encouraged F.D. to chronicle his struggles and triumphs to inspire others. The result was the creation of the blog "Life Beyond the Keyboard" in 2011 and the website "TRUTH, Lies & Everything in Between" in 2015.
The books available here are a collection of some of F.D.'s most popular blog posts created between 2011 to 2016. This period covers many struggles and question F.D. asked himself during his time in school and beyond. The goal of these books is to offer encouragement and advice to those that know they have potential but may lack the inspiration.
I live out my days typing on a keyboard, moseying around the yard, and observing people. Does that make me lazy and unproductive, perhaps? But it plays into the one thing I think I’m good at, telling stories. My stories are not some complicated tale of mystery or love, not in the sense you may think. I draw from the storytellers that influenced my life and simply go from there. Telling stories of encouragement, victory, and defeat.
Each of these plays a role in each of our lives. For a really long time, I hated myself. It seemed no matter what I did, it was never good enough. Some might think of that as a good thing, something to push you. But in reality, words of self-hatred are nothing more than words that cut and kill any chance you have at living. What I hope to give in every story I tell is a seed of encouragement and truth. That no matter where you are, that is the place where you begin.
Sadly the world has changed, we no longer gather around the kitchen table anymore. But that shouldn’t stop us from telling our stories. Since 2007 I’ve been writing down my life stories for the benefit of myself if for no one else. I discovered a long time ago that writing down my thoughts helps me to figure out what’s going on inside me. I by no means consider myself a pillar of strength or even a person of great wisdom. I am just a man, warts and all, sitting here telling you my little stories.
If you think about it, what I’m doing isn’t much different than my Grandmother and my family did for me. Using their life experiences to hopefully guide me along. Since no one has time to sit around the kitchen table anymore, I’m using social media to tell my stories. This is a collection of my blog posts in book form. These stories cover some ten years of my writing. They are in no particular order and are meant to express my thoughts as they happened at that moment. It is my hope that you will that a little something out of each one of these stories.
