I used this new motor for about 6 weeks in the summer of 2012, then again approximately 6 weeks this summer for a total of 12 weeks. It quit. I contacted Polygroup since Amazon told me it is still under the manufacturer warranty; they told me it is not that the warranty is only good for 180 days/6 months! This new motor has approximately 3 months of use on it and quit. Very unsatisfied with this product and the company.

I've owned an 18 ft wide Summer Escape pool for quite a few years. I like the pool but would have been happier if the filter pumps had held up better. The problem I discovered after the first one stopped working is that there is a 1/4" ceramic cylinder in the center of the rotor assembly that breaks for various reasons that are not warned about up front. Some last a long time and others don't. A piece of grit in the rotor assembly that knocks it off-center could be responsible for putting too much strain on it; the last reason I was told is that running the pump while people are in the pool making waves can also be responsible. None of those excuses applied to my circumstances. The ceramic rod is probably worth a dollar, but the full rotor assembly which used to be $25 doubled in price last year. I begged the company many times to just sell extra ceramic rods since the rotor assembly is easy to fix. I notice several reviewers said their pumps stopped working after short usage and that may be why. The company is always happy to sell you a new rotor assembly, or better yet, get you to buy a new pump. I've never had more problems with a vendor as much as I had with Polygroup. They did say last year that they were possibly going to start selling the rotor assemblies in Walmarts so people could replace them faster, but the price was still double what it used to be. Hope this helps some who've had problems. By the way, I'm a retired lady, so if I can fix this pump, anyone can.

Not sure what they are trying to pull. You can get this same pump for half the price in their online shop here: www.ploygroupstore.com

I now have two of these pumps. The first one lasted two seasons and the second merely lasted a few months. Another reviewer commented on broken a broken ceramic part and this is exactly what went wrong with both of these. Their customer service is lousy and the pumps are just garbage. I'm going to try the Intex 2500 GPH pump system suggested by another reviewer to see if that works better.

Edit: I bought a Intex 1500 GPH from Walmart ($127 in Canada). Intex 1500-Gallon Filter Pump AC 110 to 120-Volt No cutting or real work required. You can use the hoses that come with the Intex pump without any modification. Unless you can figure out how to attach the new hose to the skimmer basket, keep the polygroup pump on the skimmer as you will need to attach the new pump hose to it. Cut the power cord to the Polygroup pump as you are just using it as an "elbow" to direct the flow of water to the new pump.

Attach the hose that came with the Intex pump to the outflow of the polygroup pump with a compression clamp (the kind you tighten using a nut driver or a screw driver) and attach the other hose to the pool outflow with a similar compression clamp. That's it. The Intex pump has a few nice features. One big one is that the pump is insulated and not so damn noisy. Second one that I like is that you can choose to cycle the pump up to 12 hour cycles so it's not on all the time but runs at night for 12 hrs then shuts off for 12.

Our pool came with a 600 gal per hour pump and it just wasn't enough. We have a 12' round pool by 36" deep. It holds 1950 gallons of water. It wasn't keeping the pool clean. The 1000 gallons per hour does an efficient job with no algae growth so far, and I live in Florida on the Gulf side. I have had the new pump since May 2012.

I bought the pool from Big Lots. The pool did not have the pump or filtering system in the box.

I tried to call "PolyGroup", the people who manufacture the pool, but to no avail, after 150 times in one day of calling ... the line was busy.

I bought the Intex 2500 GPH pump system. It's very easy to hook up to your Summer Escapes Pool. Basically the hoses will fit on the Summer Escapes Pool fittings, -BUT- you must use the hose that originally came with the pool for parts.

I took the original hose, using a utility knife, cut the ends off of the hose (the flat ends that aren't rigid) and placed them over the fittings on the Summer Escapes Pool - that allows for the hoses from the Intex pump to fit perfectly, you will have to buy two clamps to tighten the hoses.

The Intex 2500 GPH pump is awesome and works well with our Summer Escapes Pool.

Hope this helps all of the people that are upset about the pump that PolyGroup (Summer Escapes Pools), manufacture.

I looked all over for a replacement pump for my pool and I ordered this one through Amazon. The next day I found the same pump included in an external pump package for $40. I was going to cancel the Amazon order but by then it had already shipped. I was then thinking of returning it when I received the order, but after a while I decided I should keep it as a spare. Although I spent 4 times the amount I did on the one I found in town on sale, I figured I shouldn't punish the seller or Amazon. Terrific service, great delivery speed. And I'm sure the pump will work if I ever need it..
