I recently replaced my manual pull down Accuscreen with the Favi fixed. On first inspection during installation I noticed a separating of the pleat where one of the rods go to help support the tension of the screen. Truthfully I nearly sent the screen back because of this!

I figured since it was here, I might as well give it a try and see if the Favi was worth saving. Well I'm happy to report the screen turned out to work well with my projector. I wasn't expecting the gain this screen has. I know it says 6 gain, but I find that a little unrealistic, maybe a lot unrealistic! lol

It does have a tremendous amount of gain though. My Accuscreen was 1.1, this has to be at least 2.0 or more..I'm guessing. Brightness as well as my contrast and colors had to be adjusted on the projector because the screen does have plenty of gain. The viewing angle is excellent for a screen with this much gain. The claims of 175 degrees off axis seem true to my eyes.

Up until I began searching for an inexpensive fixed screen, I had never heard of this company. After contacting Favi, I was pleasantly surprised with how great their customer service was. They sent me a replacement screen ASAP without question. For the money this is a very nice unit. The frame will last forever! If you want to use your favorite screen material in place of the standard screen, this could be a very good way to go. You may find that you are happy with the results of the standard screen and not worry about changing the material to something else.

For the price of this screen, it can't be beat. The box arrived a little beat up and wet, but I that had more to do with the lazy driver of the delivery van, leaving the box in the middle of the driveway versus under a covered porch. Everything was dry inside and nothing damaged, so no harm. The frame is sturdy, the black velvet border is glued on and there were a few spots that were coming unglued that took me all of 30 seconds to fix. It took me about an hour to put together. The instructions aren't all that clear but nothing that you can't figure out. The frame is connected by plastic brackets at the corners. It was a tight fit so I had to use a rubber mallet to knock them into place. While putting the frame together, you slide the screen fasteners in their groove first, then connect the frame together. Because of the tight fit of the plastic connectors, I had to lift the frame up to gain leverage as I hammered it into place. If there was too much of gap in the corners the fasteners would fall out as I hammered, but in the end I got it together.

The screen has some weight to it, so to mount the screen, I attached a 2x4 to the wall, putting 2 screws into each stud to distribute the weight across the entire beam. I used a laser level to enure the 2x4 was straight. Then I screwed 3in screws into the 2x4 at the mount points. I was able to mount the screen by myself with relative ease. I lifted the left side up first, attached the mount to the screw, then walked over to the right side, lifted it up and onto the screw.

I am using an HD20 projector in econo mode, it looks perfect on this screen. I have no issues with daytime viewing. If I didn't get this screen I would have gone the DIY route, but after pricing other alternatives such as screen goo or the cost of fabric, wood, and velvet, the money saved was negligible to the amount of time it would have taken me to build my own.

It took about 2-1/2 hours to assemble this screen. The packaging was fine. Some of the hardware was different from the instructions, and some was mis-matched.

The frame went together fine and seems relatively sturdy. Some of the screw holes didn't quite line up.

The instructions don't really say how tight the screen should be and could be A LOT better.

The screen itself is decent. I'm not a videophile but the image is a lot nicer than the big roll of paper we had been using. With the velvety finish it looks like a much more expensive item.

All in all I could probably make a do-it-yourself kit for a few bucks cheaper but this isn't bad for $160.

The bottom line is that the quality of the actual screen is good but the setup was tedious and frustrating. You get what you pay for. If you don't mind spending at least 1.5 hours putting it together you'll probably be happy with the purchase.

Actually the frame was very solid. The screen went in very nicely smooth and flat. The gain appeared the same from every viewing angle even near the side. So I was very impressed.

Took a while to set up. And was almost impossible to hang from the wall using the mounting bracket provided. To try and locate a single screw mount on two studs 100 inches a part and keep it level is actuall impossible. Finally used some picture hanging wire to mount it to the wall.

Later I noticed there were several black streaks on the screen when the projector was on projecting a light or white back ground. The streaks were very anoying. They would not clean off. And you could not see anything on the screen even with a bright flashlight. But they were there when the projector shined down on the screen from a ceiling mouunt.

Called FAVI and they would not send replacement screen. Had the screen less than 30 days and Amazon offered full replacement. So Amazon is out of sight. Still not sure why Favi would not honor their warranty otherwise I would have reviewed this higher had they replaced the screen directly.

Amazon is the best. Favi is the pits in my book.
