This was an interesting story with an eclectic cast of characters. Trudi was your usual overly klutzy heroine. She could ramble on endlessly about nothing and does not have the capability to say sorry. So, our heroine was annoying until the very end changed my perception of her. I found Walker to be a little out of character for an ex-merc. He spent over 10+ years overseas, doing unmentionable things. And as soon as he joined up with Trudi and her troupe, he suddenly lacked all the training he ever had. It showed up in the first 2 chapters, but after that, Trudi changed his personality irrevocably. Other than that little quirk, I sincerely loved this guy. He was tall, dark and dangerous. Walker took things in stride. And the one thing I admired about him most that he was only willing to go to third base with Trudi until his mission was complete. Tres honorable. Another great thing about the story was the few hilarious mishaps that occurred when these two meet. As an example, Trudi was camping outside in her backyard. It was late and she heard a noise. Thinking it could be the killer, she Maced him. But it was really poor Walker.
The plot has good sexual tension, romance, humor and intrigue. Despite having all the elements, I just could not get into the story until the last third of the book. That was the best part. The ending had an interesting twist that you will not see coming. My mouth dropped open at the remarkable turn. There were small hints distributed throughout the book but won't make sense until you reached this point. This was the main reason I had to write this review. An amazing ending to an okay plot. The cast was amazing. It was fun to try and figure them out. The dialogue seemed to run on and on when Trudi talked. Other than that, the dialogue was well written.
If you have the time and money and need a filler book, get it for the great ending. There is enough entertainment to justify the purchase. But should you rush out and get this? Nope.
