This is a quick review of the FC5V3 fan controller.

Pros:
Nice looking interface
UI updates quickly
Long extensions to plug in all your fans
Long extensions for temperature sensors
Startup "burst" feature to ensure all fans are running even if there are 2-2 volts applied based on the potentiometer

Cons:
UI has lame startup sequence.
Potentiometers only adjust the voltage after it is as ~50%
controller is only held on by the front of the bay, it can wobble depending on what is mounted around it

For nearly $100 i feel it's a bit overpriced, but the clean UI makes up for it for me.

This is my 2nd Lamptron controller I have purchased, I was using the 4-channel FC-6 prior. I specifically purchased this model for controlling 6 fans, as splitting them to run 2 or more per channel was cumbersome and added to the mess of cables. Compared to the FC-6, everything is improved greatly. Firstly, the color settings are controllable with the UI, instead of jumpers on the back. Second, the temp cables are black instead of the white/red. Fan cables are nicely sleeved as before, but like on the FC-6, the 4 pin Molex connecter is rather short, getting an extension is recommended. Being able to see the exact voltage going to each fan is a great touch.

I've only run into one snag: I specifically got this model for an orange themed build, but the orange produced by this unit is very yellow, especially compared to the reference image. It's possible I might have a defective unit, but all of the other colors look exactly as in the image.

1.5year Update: Still works great after 1.5 years of daily use. No issues whatsoever.

Pros:
-Can run 6 fans 12V per fan and anything between (0V-12V)
-Very solid electricity flow, no fan clicking or fluctuations in fan speed
-Knobs have a very solid feel and are very accurate when controlling the voltage for each fan
-Sharp colors/Many to choose from/Very bright
-Very accurate temperature sensors and sensor cables
-Very high quality fan power cables and connectors

Cons:
- Didn't come with any cable management accessories, used my own
- No LCD brightness settings
- The power extension cable that came with it is terrible, the pins inside it are not fixed and move about, plugged directly into my PSU (note, there is very little clearance between the power adapter and the side metal panel so if your PSU power connectors are large (e.g. have squeeze clamps) it will be a very tight fit.
-(Will follow up in a few months to test longevity)

Notes:
Voltages scaling via knobs is logarithmic, (see comment for scaling), so controlling accuracy at lower voltages is very sensitive, but manageable

For such a high price, I expected a much better build and quality. The resistance for the first and last knobs have no resistance whatsoever. The remaining four knobs have some nice resistance when changing voltage, but too bad that each knob has a different resistance level. I was really really surprised that for such a high price they are selling this equipment. I strongly recommend against buying this product.

Three star review, but I gotta tell you, I'd buy the same thing over again today if I needed another fan controller. My biggest complaint with the FC5 v3 is that the potentiometers on this thing are terrible. You can have voltage variances between channels up to 3v with the potentiometers set at the exact same setting. My opinion is they're either using low grade potentiometers, or they've got some poor tuning parameters.

All-in-all, this is a great fan controller. It fits very well in my Coolermaster HAF X case, and gives all the control that I need for my fans. The temperature sensors are very accurate, and provide the real core of what this product brings me. I get RPM readouts, real time temperatures, and the ability to control air flow current within the box to vent as needed.

I like the idea behind this but since i got it i pretty much can't really adjust fan speeds. They either go or they don't, when you try to fine tune you can turn the knobs 75% in either way and nothing will change and then all of a sudden the speed either jumps almost to max or drops almost to barely running. Great concept and would 5 star it in a heartbeat if it worked properly but as of right now it does not. Also the thing beeps like mad everytime i start my pc and I can't for the life of me get it to stop even though there is supposed to be a silent mode.

This fan controller is great. Build quality is is awesome the brushed aluminum looks great and the displays colors are vibrant. The graphics is pretty much just plain text numbers showing voltage and temp. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because I feel the nobs to turn voltage up or down could have been different I think it does not match the rest of the design or materials of the fan controller unit and it feels like the nobs are the first thing that would break

I bought on the advice of a friend and we both put a good load on them but we are in the wattage envelope for the channels however we have both blown capacitors on the channels. My friend with high demand fans and myself with D5 pumps. Lamptron was good with replacing them and said the initial push to start the fans/pumps is not recommended. Only one year warranty and out of warranty now. I took the dead ones that failed outside of the warranty, replacements failed for running the fans even with less fans on the channels, and replaced the issue capacitors with solid state ones and seem to be working fine. I have the four channel versions and with the same load work great right out of the box. Not sure if this is related to the capacitors but two of the channels for a blown controller just go full blast and do not respond to input from the knobs, even after changing the capacitors. Not a big deal for me as I leave them at 100% and just use the monitoring functions to keep an eye on everything but still annoying.
