The previously sealed gates to Ishgard open to the inhabitants of Eorzea as the Dragonsong War worsens. This bloody thousand-year conflict between the dragoons of Ishgard and the sentient dragons of Dravania seeks the support of new adventurers to bring an end to the struggle. Heavensward will expand the playable area of the game into additional parts of Eorzea, beyond the Coerthas Central Highlands and in to the skies above the Sea of Clouds and the floating landmasses therein.

I do have some criticism that puts it at 4 stars, where I'd give Realm Reborn 5 stars. One thing I noticed right away, and this is because I got Heavensward right after I finished the last story quest for the stock game, is the Voice Actors all changed. Some sound like they're trying to keep to the old actors, but others are jarringly different.
The Job/class quests don't feel as fun as they did in the main game. They don't keep me drawn in like the others did, which is a shame because that helps me to level up alternative roles. Having to return to the city of Ishgard for Levels is annoying in its own right. It makes grinding 50-60 for alternative roles difficult as well.
Though it has its faults, I still think it's a great expansion with plenty to do, great dungeons/raids, and a wonderful story that will have you grinding levels/gear for more! I look forward to the next expansion!
The content keeps coming, the story is engrossing, the graphics are stunning, the end game has a variety of options for casuals, hardcore players, and everyone in between, the community is truly amazing, and the stories you'll create are one of a kind.
If you're just getting the game now, know that it will be a bit of a drag until you hit either level 50 or 60 at this point as we are nearing the release of the second expansion of the game (expansion releases June 20th, 2017). Stick to friends, join a friendly Free Company (our version of guilds) and they'll help immensely and keep the game amazing
Warning: you must have finished ALL story content up to 2.55 in order to even touch HW content outside of the raised level cap. Because of this, I would advise people to get that done first before (or be at lvl 50 at least) before getting the expansion to make sure you really want to commit. The only thing you are missing out with getting HW at this point is the ability to start out as an Au Ra. If that's what you want, then go right ahead. You will get a race change potion after a month of subscription, so keep that in mind.
The game, itself, is very good and we've had many hours of fun playing it. I'm sure the expansion will be good, as well.
