Worked great when it did, now saying incompatible battery

Worked great for a few months. I used it on my a6000 and a6400 as a webcam for twitch streaming and video conference calls. Worked great for hours of streaming. All of a sudden today, it started saying "incompatible battery" when I power on my camera. Happens to both cameras. I have another back up dummy battery and it works fine. I didn't upgrade any firmware on my cameras either, so I'm not sure why it stopped working all of a sudden. I tried cleaning the battery contacts, but still saying incompatible battery. The other brand that still works was from "HY1C", but sadly it's unavailable. I'll try another brand.

PRO: Fits perfectly for my Sony A6k. Keeps the camera at full, well almost full. It'll show 100% battery, but then drop a little while using it. The wife has been using that camera to sell her collection of items that she has accumulated throughout the years and got tired of having to change the battery out all the time. With using flash, auto focus, the display on and being connected to a computer, the batteries would only last about 1 hrs. With this adapter, she was able to take photos and edit them all day. I would recommend this to anyone who will be staying stationary while taking their photos. Build quality seems great for the price point. Super easy to install as well.
CON: You obviously need access to an electrical outlet to use it. It is also pretty awkward to use with the camera in hand, but was amazing when the camera is on a tripod.

2 Stars because it works on an A6000... with conditions

I was excited when somebody sent me this because it means indefinite recording without eating through batteries.

This works well enough to turn the camera on, but it's also too small to KEEP the camera on.

When you put a battery in it fits into the slot perfectly and rests on the little clip that holds it in place. Because this is slightly smaller than a normal battery, when it rests on the clip it loses connection to the camera, causing it to lose power.

You can try to wiggle it and mess with it to get it to stick, but there's no telling how long it will -- and the slightest bump will cause it to lose power again.

I tried to put some tape on the lid to hold it in place, but that's also hit or miss (unless you want to use a lot).

It's just slightly to small to work right. And when I say slightly I mean like the width of a needle point. But just enough that the electrical connection breaks and turns off the camera.

I'm going to send it back and try another. I may have just got a bad one.

This adapter is exactly what I needed to power my Sony A7s II and a6500. It seems relatively durable. I don’t get any errors, but the battery gauge on the camera is inaccurate. If I use it in my A7s II battery grip with a standard battery, I can run on AC and not interrupt recording if it gets unplugged.
It’s also possible to power those cameras through USB. A USB battery might be a better option for some people.
