If you might want more than one cup but don't need a large teapot full, this is just the right size.
It will make at least three teacup sizes and one or two mug sizes.
The pot and infuser are really top quality. The large, deep infuser will allow the tea leaves to expand and brew to their best. Beautiful design, very easy to clean.
Stays warm long enough to finish a couple cups, but if you want to heat it up more just put it into the microwave for a minute without the infuser.
I am extremely happy with this little gem and will be purchasing a larger size as well.
I also posted a picture of me holding the whole 24oz.pot in my hand to give it scale and help to judge the size of the pot.
-silicone ring around lid
-thumb extension for infuser, so you simply place your finger there when you pour and don't have to worry about holding lid down
-small enough to hold one handed
-very few drips if any
-makes three 8oz cups, great for an individual who drinks more than one cup or uses larger mugs. I usually drink one cup hot and the other two iced
-doesn't keep tea hot long term; I'm now looking into crocheted cozies on etsy (I am a slow drinker)
-color is not a true black but more a faded black so it doesn't match my black/white damask mugs/dishes
Otherwise it's a fabulous little teapot! So cute. :)
Decided this teapot needs 5 stars instead of 4. I really love it and my husband just asked for one to take to work. I would say that's a winner!
Something to watch, as well, is the metal tea holder. Great idea, but beware. If you fill the pot to the lip of the tea holder, and then put the lid on you will watch tea sploosh out of the spout. The lid has a "rubber" seal, so the air pushes down, with the resultant sploosh.
So what did we do ? Well, we kept this pot for when Mrs. B. and I want a cup of tea, and ordered an additional 45 ounce pot from the same manufacturer for when we have visitors. Seriously, very impressed so far.
I use this pot almost every day, for my two cups of personal tea, not for company. A larger decorated English style china pot is reserved for use when my two young granddaughters come for tea celebration once a week. On those occasions, fancy is the name of the game.
January 19, 2013 update
After more than a year of regular use, I'm still fond of this little white teapot. Who knows how many times I've washed it on the top rack of the dishwasher, and there is no staining of the interior? Neither is the ceramic glaze showing signs of crazing. I'm familiar now with how much loose tea to place in the stainless steel infuser for a proper cuppa tea. In the beginning, for myself I used way too much loose tea and the wet leaves were packed inside. What a waste!
Since we moved south, my tea-drinking friends are not as fancy as my granddaughters about the teapot, and this is the pot du jour when friends visit. In fact, I think the more delicate pot is still safely packed away somewhere. I do not miss it, since I still enjoy the simple visual beauty and serviceability of this plain white pot.
The stainless infuser is extremely easy to use. Its small mesh holes keep the flavor in and the leaves out. It fits perfectly inside the pot and easy to remove when your tea is properly steeped. The infuser is fairly easy to clean, requires some minor effort to make sure all the leaves are removed. The pot itself doesn't drip or leak. One does have to be careful however to not overfill.
I choose the turquoise color and was slightly nervous about the color but it is a pleasant color and matches well with the turquoise plates and bowls I bought from Ikea.
