I finally researched and found the general consensus for the best brew is French press. I researched the brew pots and this one got good reviews but I was still hesitant because I thought it would be complicated. Finally, I broke down and bought the pot because it was either that or stop drinking coffee. I AM SO GLAD I did because not only is the brewing simple but the coffee is robust and flavorful and actually hot -- and I have coffee in almost the same amount of time as it took for the yucky automatic drip.
Brewing notes: I find coarse grind works best but you can use all-purpose if you are careful though it's a little muddy and doesn't have quite the same quality flavor. With each new brand of coffee, I start out with 2 tablespoons and adjust it each time until I find out what is best. I use a long handled wooden spoon instead of plastic and carefully stir out the foam at top and give a brief swish to the grounds on the bottom. I let it steep for at least 4 minutes but, for me, 5 minutes usually gives me the flavor I'm looking for.
As another reviewer noted, the borosilicate glass does seem to sit a tiny bit off from vertical, but in no way does this affect the functionality of the press, and in fact it seems to make me less likely to slosh over, since I have overfilled the water several times. All in all, a terrific purchase which has had daily use for nearly a year now and I appreciate it more with each passing month.
For starters we all know Cold water would take Forever!...and that silly and dumb.
I started making up Coffee tea bags by using Coffee Filters and after trying the tied coffee bag out in a Cup after microwaving it to a Boil and thats about 3 microwave minutes, It made my Coffee strong and good after i allowed it to cool down. your crazy!.. if you want to wait hours! in dumb cold water!. just let Hot water work the grounds out faster.
The first thing I noticed is that it's a thinner glass than the real thing, and the one I got was glued wrong in the base and sat crooked. But I still used it. From day one it also had a problem with the screen and got grounds into the coffee, but yet I kept using it.
Mercifully, I dropped and broke it, and bought a double walled stainless one which is working great.
-- Makes coffee
-- Glass is nice because you can see how much coffee is left
-- Too cheap
-- Gets grounds in coffee
-- Mine came glued into the base at an an angle
