Product Description

Legendary performance. 100% Tournament legal. Created with precision and accuracy in mind, the FPS Freek is our flagship accessory. Fueled by our desire to win, the FPS Freek was developed for the sole purpose of becoming better at first-person shooters. The result has become somewhat of a legend. Proven a winner time and time again, the FPS Freek has been praised by numerous professionals, enthusiasts and n00bs alike. By increasing the length of the thumb-sticks slightly, precision while aiming is improved dramatically. Your range of motion is increased by 40%, giving you the opportunity to make smaller adjustments and “snap” to targets much faster in first-person shooters. This affords you the luxury of turning up controller sensitivities to get the closest feel to a mouse possible on a console. The greater leverage offers you better control and less force—alleviating thumb-fatigue and adding more comfort to long gaming sessions. In short, this increased accuracy and decreased thumb-fatigue results in more kills and less deaths. In the competitive world of online gaming, you’d be crazy to play without the FPS Freek! FPS Freek is designed to fit both the PS3 and Xbox 360 controllers but will also fit many third-party versions. Works great in games like: * Modern Warfare 2 * Battlefield: Bad Company 2 * Call of Duty: Black Ops * Halo: Reach * Medal of Honor

I have never written a review on Amazon...ever, and I buy stuff from here all of the time, but this product impressed me so much that I wanted to share my experience with you and recommend you give it a try.....so here we go. I ordered a set of the Vipr Black FPS Freek for my PS3. They arrived today and I placed one on my right analog stick, the one you aim with ;). It was a little awkward feeling at first because I wasn't used to having my thumb so high up, however when I tried moving the stick around a little before actually jumping into any gameplay it felt so smooth and drastically different. It took about half of a game of Hardcore TDM on MW2 to get fully used to using it. I always play on insane sensitivity (10) because I like the ability to turn faster, the FPS Freek helps to control the slower turns while still giving you the ability to spin like a tornado if you want to. After a few hours with it my accuracy has already gone up from 18.03% to 19.33% which may not seem that impressive to a casual gamer, but that is a huge leap in a FPS especially for such a short period of time. It feels like its built pretty solidly and its definitely comfortable, it was a little difficult to snap on at first just because the analog kept rolling and it would snap on crookedly. I gave my other one to my brother for him to use on his 360 as this product fits both the 360 and the PS3 controller. I am definitely looking forward to his feedback since we are both avid gamers. The Vipr Black color is nice, its just all black which matches my controller better than the white one which is why I bought it and it matches my brother's CoD controller as well. I seriously think this is the best peripheral I have ever bought for a game system other than a second controller. For the more than casual gamer that prefers to play FPS I would whole heartedly recommend this product especially when a $10 item can do so much for you and a friend or your second controller. I hope you found this review helpful, if you have any questions about my experiences with it I'd be glad to help out.

I purchased the this product back in 2010, and needless to say, I still use it today. Although my original intention was to use it to help me get better in FPS games, I have found that it suits my hands just comfortably with any type of game. I have large hands, so the expanded lift off the of thumbs ticks and away from the controller felt a little weird at first, but they definitely feel comfortable in a sense that I don't really want to play without them. The as the grip of the regular PS3 thumbsticks wears down, it becomes more prone to finger-slipping, especially in tense situations, yet this attachment, with it's concave design, helps to drastically reduce that. In addition, it does what is it supposed to do, which, because of it's extended lift, give more control over the dead zones (the area closest to the center of the stick placement that allows for finer movement of, say, the camera or character), which helps a lot. I used to use it to help me in Killzone, and although I personally didn't get better (due to just not putting the time in to get good at the game), I can see how it helps others in regards to specifically FPSes.

The only issue that I have found with it is that, the bottom notches that are supposed to hook it to the sticks can be a little bit ineffective at times. Sometimes, if you play with it for a while, the Freeks will stay on and almost never seem to come off unless you take them off. Other times, you might think you have them on, and after a few minutes, you're playing and one just pops off. It can be a little irritating, as one of the 3 the hooks on the bottom of each of the Freeks seems not to be able to get a clean hold under the ledge of the thumbsticks, and rather pushes close to the bottom of the side of it inward, causing a small bit of indentation around the edge of the thumbsticks. It's a small matter, really, and not make or break, but that's just the experience that I've come across with them. Nevertheless, having the product a little over a year now, I can say that it's one to stick with.

A friend of mine introduced me to these (we both play daily on XBOX 360) and at first I was a little skeptical about them. He owns a pair of Classic FPSFREEK's and I didn't like the feel of the thumbstick being so raised. They do take a few hours (or rounds) of playing with to get use to but after that I was hooked. I didn't realize there were so many different types of KontrolFreek sticks so I did a little research and like what I heard about the VIPR sticks. I play a lot of Battlefield 3 online as well as some multiplayer and zombies on COD Black Ops 2 along with other FPS games. Anyways I got 'em in the mail (they ship quick too) snapped 'em on effortlessly and started playing. I fell in love right away. Fine tune adjustments to aiming down the sights was instantly noticed as was controlling air vehicles in BF3. As I said they do take a little bit to get use to but afterwards, you'll wonder how you ever played without as I did. Now I want them all (there are different sticks for CQC (Close Quarters Combat, shorter stick), Sniping (longer stick), racing (cupped stick) etc..) just to see and feel the difference, plus they actually improved my online scoring (not a guarantee but they did for me) The bumpy grip texture on the top of the sticks are great, they're super easy to install (just snap on top of the controller thumbstick) they stay put, I even mashed up down left and right a few times just to check. I do currently only use my VIPR stick on my controllers right thumbstick as I don't really need one on the left (you can put them on both if you'd like, totally preference. They send 2 in a pack) so I just keep one for backup. That's the other thing, they are sturdy and well made. Unless you litterally beat on them hoping to break them this product will last you a long time. Check 'em out..buy 'em! They're worth every penny and some.
