I got this filter because my old air filter in my 2000 Chevy Malibu was ready to be changed. It was fairly old and probably wasn't flowing very well. It was just a standard throw away filter. I really like the idea of getting a reusable air filter so that I didn't have to go out and buy new ones all the time. The fact that it claimed it was a high performance filter was a plus. The price of this filter was actually less then the price of a throw away filter for my car.
I put this new filter in and it fit. The structure around this filter is much harder then the structure of the filter I had taken out of my car. It was a little difficult to get the air box closed on my car, but it wasn't impossible. To me, it makes sense that it has to be stronger and more durable if it is intended to last for the life of the car. Not really an issue at all for me. The first thing I noticed was the increase in throttle response and accelleration of my car with the new filter. Going from an old clogged filter to this one offered a big improvement for me. For the price, I would recommend this to anyone.
