I used my finger to apply the cream, as other's suggested and I found it to work very well.
The pair of James Lace Up boots I just got looked a little dried out, the cream fixed them right up.
They say not to use it on the distressed leather boots, but the typical boots are fine.
UPDATE: I accidentally cut my finger recently, and a drop of blood feel on my camel-colored Frye boots. I was totally bummed at first, but the conditioned leather "absorbed" the stain within about 15 minutes. There's no mark to be found on the boots now, and I feel that it's because the leather was well-conditioned. Yay Frye!!
