Product Description

Short and slouchy, FRYE constructs this vintage-chic boot with an antiqued finish.

The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

I purchased the taupe color Anna Shortie Bootie. I usually wear an 8-8 1/2, and having needed FRYE sandals in an 8 1/2 I went with that size in the boot as well. The length was okay maybe even a tad long, but the biggest problem was I found the boot to be too roomy. I have a low volume foot with a high arch and narrow heel. My foot really flopped around inside the boot. But, I got a really great sale price and was determined to make it work for me! I added a "double" variety of Dr. Scholl's insole and the problem was solved. I can now wear a light to mid weight sock with no problems, including no heel slippage. Without the insole I tried a thick sock, but still had a bit of slippage. I would have liked to order an 8 to try as comparison, but would have had to pay full price--another $100! Glad just adding an insole did the trick with the 8 1/2. The taupe color is gorgeous, a grayish brownish color and the leather is very soft. I received several compliments the first time I wore them. I do have thin legs, so these work best for me under boot cut jeans or with a skinny jean tucked in. But, for someone with a larger leg they'd also be great with tights and a casual skirt or dress. Highly recommend.

I ordered the Anna shortie in Cognac last month and after wearing them several times I knew something was off. The padding in the sole felt thin compared to the 2 other Frye boots I have. I took them off and noticed 'Made in China' instead of Mexico. I checked the box and yep, Made in China, checked the other boxes, Made in Mexico. I think these are knock offs. Sadly, I can't return them. Anytime you order, make sure your box says Mexico, or immediately send them back, as Frye makes their boots in Mexico. To be fair, I do have a pair of Frye boots from Amazon and they were made in Mexico. I'm thankful I was at the Frye store in Georgetown when it opened and an employee training new employees told me about how the are made in Mexico. Buyer Beware.

I was so excited to get these boots. When I opened the box, I was instantly disappointed. The leather, as some others have mentioned, looks shiny and cheap. I own many pairs of Frye shoes and boots, and these were nowhere near the Frye quality I'm used to. Not only was the leather weird, the whole feel of the boot was super-lightweight. I couldn't imagine them keeping my feet warm or trudging through the Ohio winter in them. Not what you'd expect for a pair of boots you paid a small fortune for.

These boots were also at least a full size smaller than marked. I am tall and have big feet- a size 9.5 or 10- and my toes were painfully crammed into the toe box when I put them on. I'd have had to have ordered at least a size and a half larger in order for them to fit properly.

I sent these back and ordered the Frye Jayden Roper boots and they are everything I was looking for- normal fit, thick leather, and substantial sole.

The Anna Shorties are NOT the Frye quality you are used to!

The reviews were mixed, so I took a chance and ordered them. That turned out to be a mistake. These boots have the "Made in China" look and feel. They are also, as others noted, too small - they are too narrow and the toe box is not high enough to accommodate your foot comfotably when walking. The leather is thin and crumpled. This is not the old Made in America Frye boot - it's an imposter masquerading as a decent brand. So tragic that Frye has let things go this way. China can keep their crap and this boot too.

I have many many Frye boots and these are hands down the worst quality I have seen. Leather is paper thin, even with a tear at a seam like paper that has been sewn and cant withstand stress. They are harder to get on than any I have ever put on, too, which means they need to endure stress. Cute style but the ankle is more narrow (good look but not practical to get on!). I wish this style was just more like thick leather Frye quality, but they have to go back. Stitching is even coming loose out of the box, which surprises me!

I just got the Frye Anna delivered and they are beautiful!! I got the Cognac color. I can understand some reviewers have said that they had a hard time getting their foot in. I did too, but I used a plastic grocery bag and just worked it out - took about 3 minutes per shoe first time. Doing this at home is fine...doing this in a department store can bring about unwanted looks and stares. Sometimes putting Frye boots on for the first time is a lot like eating messy chicken wings...it's something you want to do in the privacy of your own home. Other than that - I didn't find the leather "too thin" as some have said and the shoe is pretty comfortable. My worry was about the top of the boot of wether it would be too wide and look silly (the models wearing the boots have really thin legs) but my legs are muscular and shaply so the boot doesn't have a huge gap at the ankle. Its a beautiful, modern, minimal boot - I recommend and so glad I got it over half off!
