So my fellow online-shopping-bootaholics, beware of these boots!Read more ›
I was skeptical to purchase these "Frye" boots after reading reviews that stated that they are fakes... but, figured with Amazon's stellar return policy I would ship them right back if I found problems. Upon arrival, in a FRYE box, the smell of leather filled my nose and the beautiful color was everything I had hoped for. Yay! These were no fakes! I got a killer deal and was happy as could be. Fast forward 30 days, I've worn them probably a dozen times... the stitching is coming undone on the inside left boot. The soles of these boots are weird... they get soggy when wet. Soft to the touch, squishy and are starting to smell a bit moldy as they never really dry all the way out. As these were my first pair of Frye's... I can't prove that they are fakes... but, I would like to believe that a company known for high quality would be making boots accordingly. With over 150 years of practice I figured they know how to make a good boot. Which of course leads me to believe that I was duped into believing they were real. So sad... I really do love the look and feel of these boots. BUT... for the money I spent... they have to go back. After speaking with Amazon's customer service department I was assured I could still return the pair of now WORN boots for a full refund. Phew. Lesson learned... listen to reviews that other customers leave.
UPDATE**** after one season leather still looks great, smells leathery still, and minor scuffs. Soles are looking warn, but heals are holding up without the paint coming off.
