I recently purchased about 10 pairs of these shoes--different colors and sizes--and compared to find a few had sharp stitch ends (odd for Frye's soft material and quality stitching), different soles, different seams inside/out, no size/mfr stamp inside, more plastic smell than true leather. Checked Frye's website to confirm the details didn't match. I checked Amazon's pics and noticed inconsistencies too (the white Reginas match Frye's pics).
Pics I've posted show Regina that's identical to Frye's website is on the right, and the possible fake on the left. Note the sole, inside and outside stitching are different.
I never would've known unless I had so many to compare. The "fakes" look really nice, so it'd be worth it if they cost less, but mine didn't. And FYI that all of them size-wise were inconsistent. (Frye boots I wear 8.5, occasionally 9; my normal shoe size is 8.5-9, and with these I settled on some 8 (snug) and some 8.5 (perfect).
Also, as comfort level goest they're just ok. I find Banana Republic ballet flats more comfortable.
I've heard there's a breaking in period with these and I haven't gotten past it yet being only 2 wears in. I just wanted to share that for me and others with this issue, this will be a painful breaking in process. I didn't get any blisters but I was also mostly sedentary on the days I wore them to work. I could feel blisters coming on so I took them off as soon as I got home. In fact, these chafed areas were still tender for several days.
I'll try to update once they are broken in. They do look and feel very high quality. The tassles on the back concerned me but they don't move at all when you walk so they aren't very noticeable.
when I buy frye in the store. However on line I always need an 8m. I am thinking the shoes on line are made in a different location than the shoes in the store and they never have the size or country of origin written in thwm
