3.0 out of 5 stars Total joke - impractical and barely useable
By ParaPilot on September 29, 2019
I have purchased over 200 FSP brand computer PSUs. They have proved to be extremely high quality and very reliable, however whoever designed these and wrote the description must have been smoking dope. On the positive side they are high quality and they run very cool so I suspect if you can get them into the case they might be reliable which is why I gave them 3 stars, however they are a total joke as regards suitability for ITX cases and to state they are modular is beyond a total a joke. EVERY PC needs to have a Motherboard and unless it has an M.2 SSD it needs one SATA power connector. Any good modular PSU comes with multiple plug in leads. If you don't need the old style LP4 connectors then you don't plug that lead in, same for the Motherboard CPU power header or the video card power connector. However this PSU has one gigantic power connector just for the 24 way Motherboard connector that doesn't even have the CPU header on it. There is only one other modular plug in so unless you have an extremely weird setup you need both plug ins (there are only 2) and all the leads just like any normal non-modular design. Worse still these are not lovely flat and all in one flat cables, the motherboard connector is connected with around 5 different flat cables twisted around like birds nest soup at the end so the correct terminals connect into the connector. Since I only needed the 1 SATA power connector then trying to get rid of around 5 other multi-connector leads neatly in an ITX case was nothing short of a nightmare. The flat cables take up more than twice the room of the equivalent FSP250-60FAG non modular normal wired PSU and why any sane person would have a Floppy Connector on a modern PC PSU when I haven't used one in 20 years beggars belief. See my photos for 2 attempts of trying to neatly install this nightmare. I bought 4 of these, I certainly would not recommend them for ITX cases and will not be buying any more.
