FUTURE EARTH - HUMANS OR NO HUMANS? Kindle Edition

This is a little book about a BIG deal. It is intended to inform and provoke thought and discussion about what humanity faces going forward using a spaceship as a metaphor for earth, not a novel concept, but one which is rapidly becoming more relevant in visualizing mankind’s issues with respect to survival. The major issue explored is the emerging need for mankind and all the world’s governments to recognize our mutually growing interdependence and the danger of ignoring this. The two existential threats at the forefront are global nuclear war and global warming. However, there are others like Artificial Intelligence and pandemics, less in the forefront but still potentially lethal to mankind. Although filled with worrisome facts, this book is not about gloom and doom. It is about creating a collective grassroots awareness of the threats to life on Earth ahead, without which, time is lost for corrective actions. Even creating a collective awareness will adsorb precious time, because denial is a strong bias of the human condition.
Mankind’s existence window is closing., in fact closing at a quickening pace. We may still have the ability to resolve or regulate all the issues presented. Climate change likely represents the greatest peril and the greatest challenge, but the challenge will not be met until there is a realization of our global collective interdependence and a global sense of urgency. It seems likely that mounting catastrophes generated by global warming will eventually bring every person and every government to a realization that there must be a concerted collective effort to halt climate change’s advances if mankind is to survive.
Each one of us can participate in improving the odds for mankind’s survival by seeking and spreading the truth about all the issues discussed herein. Do not be a silent victim

With a PhD in Physics and a Harvard MBA Roy Carriker has enjoyed a career of over 60-years as a scientist, R&D director, global business builder, venture capitalist, strategist, entrepreneur, educator, and writer. With a wide variety of interests and a global viewpoint, first forged by pioneering experiences in dealing with The Soviet Union during the Cold War and the Nixon/Kissinger initiatives to open relations with China in the late 1970’s, his curiosity and conversations with others cause him to dive deeply into topics where there is a serious need for a wider understanding of rapidly growing new issues and threats unfaced before, but where it seems many are looking in the rearview mirror for answers rather than imagining forward for solutions to these previously unfaced challenges.
