The next and first thing that I did was to create a swatch chart. My mind changed almost instantly! These are really nice pencils!
I used these pencils throughout my vacation and dare I say it? I fell in love! These are super nice pencils. I just wish that they had names ppl printed on each pencil, and that they came in bigger boxes. 120, or 150 pencil set would be great. Alas, the largest box is 48 pencils.
As soon as I got home I ordered the box of 48. I have some more searching to do! Lol!
As I sat here swatching my little heart out, a thought occurred to me. This set would be perfect for carrying to drs appointments and other such hurry up and wait situations. Lol!
So in my opinion, I think that most of you will like these pencils. Don't expect hard pencils like Polychromos- these are closer to the feel of prismas. Give them a try! You can always send 'em back if you don't like them. Well I hope this helps. I truly hope that you are having a most blessed day, and........color on!
To my surprise, none of the points break during transportation. I also find Goldfaber able to hold the sharp point really well!
Compare to Faber Castell Polychomos maybe Goldfaber is soft lead but I still think Goldfaber isn’t that soft. Anyway, soft lead pencils aren’t able to hold sharp point so it is not a complaint but just an observation of the pencils features.
The colour selection of 48pcs is very good (compare to my latest addiction 48 colours Winsor & Newton coloured pencils) I like the color range of Goldfaber more. I personally like softer lead though.

.) The range of colours offers everything I need. I love the vibrancy of the colours.
.) The pencils are neither too hard (they feel creamy and lush when colouring) nor too soft (they sharpen to a fine point, excellent for detail work)
.) The price is mid-range for a high quality product and a lot more affordable than the other series mentioned.
.) I love the smaller, two layered tin box. It's easier to store than the wider tins, and, with the easy lift out-tray, the pencils are easily accessible.
.) As a hobby artist, this is perfect for me! If you are a professional artist, your needs might be different from mine.
The one thing that concerned me before me was that the pencils don't have the colour name printed on them. They only have a number, and inside the tin there's a list where you can check their names. Strangely, now that I'm using the pencils, this is a non issue. You'll soon get used to the system and it is only a minor drawback.
Highly recommended!
I have since got my colouring out to try out pencils, all worked very well.. colours are great and yet again I find Faber castell a very good make and no problems at all with sharpening .. my only suggestion would be that they do a larger tin of 72 if not more like they do with their other ones.. These are very good for getting into delicate corners or tiny spaces as they are a thinner lead and keep to a point as slightly harder lead than their polychromes , but both pencils work well together..
Overall very good buy not a bad or high price tag .. No regrets on these at all
The Goldfaber are a good basic colour pencil and perfectly adequate if you are using them for colouring. They do merge quite well too so you can do some half decent art with them. However they are not as soft and don't give cover as well or as vibrantly as the more expensive Polychromos. The range is also limited, only 36 compared to the Polychromos 120 colours. I enjoy using the PolyChromos more and get better results but they are more expensive.
