First let me say I'm a huge Phantom of the Opera fan and have read many different spins on it so I did have high expectations for this and pre-ordered.

I have to say I was surprise how "clean" this was for being a modern day "Phantom" story. Which isn't a bad thing but maybe I was expecting some graphic content lol.

I had a hard time with Christine being a believable modern day women though in this. The story line didn't have many surprises at all and was overall a pretty simple straight forward Phantom story.

Cute take on the Phantom and I did enjoy it. I just wished for a bit more.

Where do I begin !!!!????!!!!!

If I'm honest, I really didn't expect to like this much. I am not really a fan of fairytale based books....they aren't my style. All I can say is I WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO WRONG !!! HOLY MOLY!!! I loved this book. I couldn't put it down and I ended up getting nothing done and reading it straight through. I could NOT get Erik out of my head. He's still there..... when I first finished reading it, I couldnt get into another book. it was all Erik, Erik, Erik !!

Erik, OMG ~~ the man had my heart from the first second I was introduced to him. He broke my heart, repaired it and then broke it again ~~ Good thing he knew how to repair it again eh?!! The man is sexy as all h*** ... He's talented, intelligent and oh so broken. My heart hammered in my chest so many times, because i felt him and his anguish and pain, not to mention his bits of happiness he could only get from his Christine.
This modern day twist on Phantom of the Opera, was just written so well, and the author did an amazing job of bringing the characters to life for me.

Christine, was not your everyday annoying female lead (sorry but i generally hate female leads). You really cant help but fall in love with her too. She is sweet, innocent, trusting and so grateful for everything she has been given. She really is an amazing character.
The side characters are well written and I really do hope to see more on the rest of Erik's band and their lives.
I highly recommend this book and this author

I chose this rating because only a select few of the Phanfiction stories and novels drew me into the world of the book like this.

It's different in a way I didn't expect, nor just a boring modern Happy
Ever After rehash but an honest look at two people and the reasons they are who they are.

I love Kim's work and when I saw she was working on her own version of the Phantom Of The Opera, I knew I had to read it.. I wasn't disappointed.. Ms Carmichael created a stunningly beautiful work of art and she truly brought Erik & Christine to life, in bright, vivid detail.
I wanted to give this book 5 stars, as it truly pulled me in, however it needs another round of copyediting, (the grammar issues are a bit distracting) so I have to drop it 4.5 stars.. Hopefully Kim will release an updated version with the needed corrections. If so, I'll happily bump my rating up to a well-deserved 5 star review..
If you're a fan of the classics, with a love for sweeping, intense & dramatic romances, snap this novel up today!
Kim Carmichael has created yet another stunning novel that you shouldn't miss!

Being a huge Phantom of the Opera fan I had high expectations for this. Kim Carmichael did not disappoint!
Erik, once a star in his own right is disfigured in a freak accident, and now is a recluse. He takes solace in remodeling an old run down theatre, and hiding from everyone.
Christine had had a rough life and she is hoping to escape the troubles and become a star. Her band sneaks in an old theatre to practice but even after being scared away once, she keeps coming back.
The man in the shadows falls for the girl who wants to shine.
Romance at its finest you don't want to miss this!

"Facade: A Modern Romance Inspired by The Phantom of The Opera" by Kim Carmichael is my first read from this author, and it will not be my last. This is so similar to 'The Phantom of The Opera' but with a Harlequin like romantic storyline. Erik Renevant was a successful singer. After he becomes disfigured from an accident he leaves his successful career behind. Christine Day is an up and coming singer, and she is really good. When life causes these two to meet Christine may just be the one to bring Erik out of hiding. There's is a love story that is classic, and endearing.

Normally, I don't usually care too much for modern-day retellings of the Phantom of the opera, but I did enjoy this one. I think the heroine being homeless or jobless for six straight years from the age of 18-24 a bit of a stretch, but overall I l found this novel highly entertaining and a good read. If you are looking for a lighthearted feel-good romance then this is for you. Also, I definitely recommend it to Phans.
