I'm subtracting a star because it's a paperback. If it wasn't such a clever idea, I would subtract more stars for being a 300+ page paperback journal.
Each day has two pages:
1) Polka dot that you draw a face on
2) A page that asks you to circle the weather (hot, cold, rain, snow), and has a place for thumbs up and thumbs down for that day with lines to write the good/bad of the day, and 3 dinner plates to write what you had for breakfast/lunch/dinner
It's probably more meant for kids with the cartoon faces and casual design. It's rainbow polka dot... who couldn't like that? I'm in my 20s and like it, but it is a little (or a lot) young. Still, it's a unique idea. I recommend it for maybe later elementary school and middle school.
I'm subtracting a star because it's a paperback.
It's over 350 pages, and is a small book, but it has a paperback cover.
That makes it hard to write in, especially on the pages on the left side of the book.
I just got the book, and the paperback cover already had slightly bent corners. Why didn't they make it a hardcover? It has over 350 pages, but with a paperback cover on such a thick book, I can't imagine it holding up through months and months of daily use. This fact makes me want to rate it lower than I am-- a 3 star book. But, the unique idea makes it a 4 star, even with the lousy paperback cover. If it had a hard cover, I would rate it 5 stars.
This book is accessible and not overwhelming - it has little icons showing you what you might write a line or two about - the weather that day, what you ate, what was good, what was bad.
I'm going to admit something - I originally bought this for myself. I loved how simple it was, and as an artist, the idea of drawing my face each day appealed to me. I then bought four more copies to give away. I will definitely be buyimg more as gifts.
