ABOUT THE AUTHOR LarryBlumsack has trained and coached thousands of professionals in the Five Steps for a Professional and Personal Edge included in this book. A seasoned business-to-business matchmaker, he set an average of 100 meetings annually with senior executives in Fortune 1000 companies for his clients.
For more than 45 years, Larry Blumsack has enjoyed successful parallel careers as a speaker, trainer, coach, serial entrepreneur, educator, writer, radio and television host and commentator, and visual and performing artist. Face-to-Face is in his DNA.
This is a refreshing read. Larry brings you out of the electronic world and back to the importance of human relations. The story telling format makes you want to keep turning the page to find out what happens next. Every business person should read this book. I applied the principals immediately and improved my face to face meeting skills, and I've been in sales for 20+ years. You can never stop learning, and the principals in this book are ones we can all use.
As someone with a tendency toward A.D.D, I sometimes become desperate to be understood, to say what I think before I forget it, and to interrupt, to try to clarify with "but, but". Great for sales, huh? This quick read pointed me back to key skills (mindfulness, careful observation, listening, YES AND)that can be learned, improved, and practiced by anyone, not just sales people or those who are seemingly more socially talented than I. Would like to have seen a few more concrete examples of how using the technique improved the interaction.
I found Face-to-Face to be an easy to read "instruction book" on how to improve our social interactions. Larry Blumsack has written the book in a way that you want to read the next chapter to see what the next step is. It gives the reader a lot to think about and offers new ways to look at everyday situations. It is a great read for anyone wanting to expand their social networking skills. This book would make a great gift especially for anyone starting out in the business world, college students and teens.
