About the Author

Barbara Stewart (7/13/1959) was born in Havre de Grace, MD, and grew up in southeastern Pennsylvania, and the central east coast of Florida. She resides in Middleburg, FL with her husband Gene. Barbara has worked in the electronics industry, and most recently in healthcare. She's a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, and won the Hope Award for volunteerism in 2009. She writes love stories that usually evolve from music - a song she hears that paints a picture, and refers to her writing as 'the sound-track of her life.' Sprinkled through her stories are humor and sadness based on experiences shared with family and friends. A reviewer on Amazon recently said, "This isn't a romance, it's a love story." (readingmaven) "As a new writer. I hope you will continue my journey, travel with me, see what song inspires me next, and I hope that you see more growth with each page you turn." She finds great enjoyment in reading - it's an escape, a journey into new and different places - but her favorite genre is romance. She loves to explore and support other self-published authors. Her next book is still in dream-phase and will be titled Tate. "Sometimes second chances work out even better than the first because you learn from your mistakes" ~ unknown

The Face In The Mirror is a beautiful story of a second chance at love, a love that is so amazing that even after many years it has never died and is still so strong, that as a reader, you truly feel their love for each other as well. But along with being a story about a second chance at a first love, it’s a beautiful story of a journey between a mother and a daughter and the special bond they shared. This book was so wonderfully written that it sucked me in from the moment I started reading and wouldn’t let me go until it was done and then it still hung on, to my head and my heart.

Renee “Renie” and Mitchell met when they were just teenagers thanks to Renie’s granny and from that first time meeting, they were smitten. They fell in love and got married but when life got tough, Renie walked away from Mitchell and the love they shared. Several years later when Renie suffers a tragic loss, it brings Mitchell back into her life and they both soon realize, their love is still strong as ever. But is there love that “one strong everlasting love” that everyone around them believes it to be. The journey Barbara takes us on is such a heart warming one, where we get to see these two as a young couple in love but also as a mature couple learning to love the people they have now become but along that journey we see the amazing bond Renie shared with both her Granny and her mother.

”I was lost. I was nothing, no one without you. I am Renie, a woman who is in love and hopeful that your future has a place for me.” ~ Renee

I really loved Renee’s ”Renie’s” character throughout the story.

The Face in the Mirror is a beautiful story of love, loss, making the most of a second chance and emotional healing. It totally captured my heart from the very first page and brought out every possible emotion. It had me laughing out loud one minute and ugly crying the next. I highly recommend this book.

THE FACE IN THE MIRROR is a beautifully-written story about second-chance love. Renie and Mitchell had been in love when they were younger and circumstances conspired to drive them apart. They meet up again as adults and thankfully, Mitchell had not given up on them. I loved the way the author told both of their stories in dual POV's, which worked well in this book.

I loved Mitchell, he was patient, strong and kind. There is no graphic sex in this book, but the author really makes you fell the strong love between these two, the kind of love that really withstands the tests of time and outside influences. I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop but thankfully, Mitchell is patient with Renie and refuses to let go of his one true love. This story spans a lot of time and I loved how Renie really grew emotionally throughout the course of the story. She, too, cannot forget her first love and the incredibly strong bonds they shared.

”I was lost. I was nothing, no one without you. I am Renie, a woman who is in love and hopeful that your future has a place for me.”

The Face in the Mirror is also a sometimes-painful exploration of family relationships, family secrets and coming to terms with the sometimes-poisonous figures in your life. The author skillfully explores the incredible story of a mother and daughter's relationship, told through the discovery of Renie's mother's journal. I absolutely loved reading those parts of the book and that part of the story is as strong as Renie and Mitchell's journey together.

If you are looking for an emotionally-staisfying, beautifully written book about love and family, then you will love The Face in the Mirror.

I received a complimentary copy of The Face in the Mirror from the author in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoy this story. Renie as her grandmother called her had lost her grandmother and mother due to death. After learning about her father having an affair and wanting to divorce her mother Renie's mom got into alcohol and pills. So now the two people she loved are gone she has to move on with her life. She runs into an old boyfriend Mitchell at her mom's funeral. They decided to try and give love another chance. Love, loss and second chances you find that all in the novel. I really look forward to reading more from Barbara S. Stewart. I do recommend this novel.

This is a bit of a different type of book that I have been reading. Yes, it's romance, but it's so much more. Renie has lost her grandmother and her mother in a short time span. She is losing control of her emotions when the rock that she needs walks through the door. Mitchell is who Renie needs. They were married and divorced. They had that young love, but then life got in their way. She was a bit immature for the relationship and the time that it takes to build a lasting one. This is a book about their second chance, but it is also about Renie growing as a person. She has to come to some realizations about herself. The book takes you back in the past at times. We see how the love of Renie and Mitchell came to be, and we watch as it blooms again. The author did a great job of character development. Dual point of view at times. No cliffhanger.
