At his 21 birthday, a lawyer that give him some things from his real Mum contacts him and he then re-enters the Bullen House.
Knowing what the Bullen’s did to his real Mum, Beckett decides to get justice for her.
However, he is found out and beaten so badly by his dad and uncle that he is left temporary blind, before being rescued by Dale and Joseph, which takes him to a safe house along with the young Doctor Kayden Summers
Kayden is a very sexy and lonely guy that hates being in the middle of nowhere stuck with a strong-willed, determent and blind guy that plays havoc with his libido.
As for Beckett, he wants justice for the people been hurt by the Bullen Family, his vision back and maybe a taste of 300 of Kayden with the lovely smell and sexy voice.
Sexing happens along with some twists and turns that I had not seen coming.
As much as I love Morgan/Nik and Dale/Joseph, I think that Beckett/Kayden is my favourite couple in the series.
They are both nice and sweet in their own way and so hot and sexy, with a side of romantic, together.
Now I just need to buy the last four books ;)
Kayden and Beckett met after Beckett was injured. Kayden was the doctor who looked after him and nursed him back to health in a sense. They were not like the last two couples which I did like. This story we got some exploration of the background of an MC. Beckett had to confront his past and the history of his family. It made for an interesting and slow paced relationship with Kayden. I loved how innocent he was, and Kayden? Kayden's unique...
Because of who Beckett is the Bullen saga was brought up again. In many ways this was a point in the series when you realised how far the Bullen's would go. It was sad to see how confused Beckett was with his heritage. One of the things I love about this series and the Bullen saga is that I am not getting lost in it. I'm able to follow and keep the couples separate.
For a series that keeps going and brings in new characters, this is one of the best. I don't feel overwhelmed when reading and it's got the right mixture of couples. So far there hasn't been a couple I haven't liked, and fingers crossed there wont be one. I would suggest people take the chance on this series, you never know if you'll love it.
Now, I will say that some people might be a little put off by the suddenness of each couple getting together but I found them perfectly acceptable for both the characters and the scenarios. Because of the possible life and death situations that the Sanctuary team members and their subsequent charges are placed in, I felt that it was very believable for each couple to realize grabbing life and love with everything they have when it's right in front of you, the right call. This might be a turnoff for some but it was not for me.
I found it to be a well written, character driven tale that is definitely worth reading. As I started out with, I think it should be read as one long story to get the sweeping effect of both the mystery and the love as well as the friendships that are explored.
I'd've liked to know more about the MCs cause they seemed interesting in the short time we had together ^^
I'll keep reading 📖
RJ did a great job combing the first three books together so well you never got lost and one book flowed right into the other.
Top international reviews
Every chapter in this story was more intense than the next i was so hooked on face value it was full of mystery twists and turns i was so hooked
I cannot wait to see what happens next with these amazing strong guys from the sanctuary series
On his 21st birthday Beckett finds out that he is really „Robert Bullen“, the long thought of death son. He returns, determined to bring justice to his murdered mother. Although he is very careful with his inverstigations, Beckett is found out and severely injured by his uncle and father. Dale&Joseph barely can rescue him. Kayden, Sanctuary's young, genius doctor nurses Beckett back to health and becomes his bodyguard. Together with Manny, the Sancturary computer geek, they solve the riddles Emma Bullen has left her son and secure important evidence for the case. Ahhh!!! So unfair ! So many new questions to the still unsolved ones make you grab the next book of this series immediately.
The reason I only awarded 4 stars this time is that I somehow couldn't connect to this new couple, despite Kayden with his dry sarcastic humor and confused but stubbornly determined younger Beckett are well portrayed. The case progresses futher but for my tast the stay at the safehouse had been dragged on a bit too long and I missed seeing any sparks flying between those two men.
The pattern is similar in each book, and yet they aren't formulaic. The overall case connecting the books is continued here in an interesting, engagaing way; mystery-wise, I thought this part the best.
It's best to read the whole series in order for full enjoyment!
