Who knew such a fun way to pass the time could lead to marriage challenges, and yet we've all heard the horror stories about how people reconnect and suddenly their lives are turned upside down.Springfield Moms sponsor and ConnectedPairs marriage counselor Marilyn Stevens offers this book review of a fascinating new resource called Facebook and Your Marriage by K. Jason and Kelli Krafsky. "As a marriage counselor and coach, I highly recommend this book for today's couples. When someone suggested I consider Facebook a year ago, it seemed like a foreign and frightening world! However, now it is a natural part of life as it is with many couples. It's difficult to seek advice from our parents about how to manage Facebook dilemmas, as it was not even invented in their day. Consequently, today's couples are challenged to navigate new technology by the seat of their pants. Sometimes that can be painful. This book is written in a creative style similar to Facebook pages, with questions and answers, endless resources in the sidebar, and threads to related subjects in the book. The Krafsky's offer practical advice in how to be proactive with Facebook: In "Simple Ways to Safeguard Your Marriage, Your Spouse, and Yourself," the authors address topics like; - R.D.A. (Recommended Daily Allowance) - Avoiding FB Addictions - Talking FB with Non-FB spouse - Friending Exesâ¦.or Not? In "SOS! My Marriage is suffering because of Facebook!" suggestions are offered for those tricky topics like: - Viewing Spouse's Chat Sessions - Logging into my Mate's Face Book - Is it an emotional Affair? Finally, couples are urged to embrace this technology to enhance their relationship. In "Let's get it on! Have a Facebook Affairâ¦With your Spouse!" the authors offer suggestions on: - Loving a Non-FB Spouse on Facebook - Be Long Distance Lovers
- Creative Invite to Date Your Mate. Marilyn Stevens, ConnectedPairs, July 18, 2010

Over and over again in working with marriages, too often I find couples where one or both spouses are committed to something other than their marriage, such as maintaining privacy from the other spouse on FaceBook, or spending all weekend golfing. It's really refreshing to read about the Krafsky's commitment to each other in this book.
Throughout the book, the authors recommend protecting your marriage and being trustworthy and honest. I fully support these qualities as requirements for a truly intimate relationship. I have a fuller discussion of protecting your marriage from social networking in the marriage tips section at my website.
The only reason I gave this book four stars instead of five is that much of the book is devoted to how to use FaceBook rather than strengthening and supporting your marriage. I thought the book might have more complete discussions about relationships.
This book is an easy read since it is written in a blog style with the authors mostly answering questions or posts from other people. The intended audience seems to be couples where one or both spouses are quite involved with FaceBook. "Facebook and Your Marriage" will be particularly helpful if FaceBook is creating a problem in your relationship.
However the packaging definitely be improved. The fringes of the book were crushed a little when I got it in the mail. It maybe because the brown paper bag/newsprint style packaging frayed the ends of the new book. I wanted to give this as a gift to my married friends but I'm uncomfortable with this. This could reflect bad on me.
So please fix the packaging to avoid fraying the new book.
