From the Back Cover

Have you ever wondered why, if a facelift is designed to create and restore beauty, so many of the rich and famous look so "done" and unattractive? And what about those telltale signs of cosmetic facial surgery, including frozen expressions, windswept looks, hollow eyes, and bizarre results? In this book, Dr. Sam Hamra, an internationally renowned plastic surgeon, explains how to correct the five most common problems that can occur with a facelift, and most importantly, how you can interview your surgeon, determine the best procedure for your situation, and avoid costly facelift mistakes.  This beautifully illustrated text contains case studies and photographic histories and explains surgical techniques in a clear and concise fashion.

"Dr. Hamra has gone the distance to inform consumers how to avoid the disappointment of facial plastic surgery gone wrong; in this book, he provides essential information needed to make an informed decision. An excellent resource for potential patients and a "must read" for any woman, or man, considering a primary or secondary facelift!"
      - T. Roderick Hester, Jr., M.D. Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery, Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia

"About one year after my first facelift, my face was "drooping" again. After thorough research, I found Dr. Hamra, who performed The Composite Facelift. I love the result, which still looks good ten years later.  And my husband, who is a physician, was so pleased he had the same procedure!"
      - Sheryl B., Atlanta, Georgia

"Dr. Sam Hamra is a true pioneer in the art of facial rejuvenation, spending a lifetime career developing state of the art concepts and accurate analysis of facial plastic surgery. Utilizing his wealth of knowledge and experience, this text brings light to the latest and best procedures with remarkable clarity and insight."
       - Rod J. Rohrich, M.D., F.A.C.S., Professor and Chairman, Department of Plastic Surgery, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas.

important book for anyone thinking about face lift. not to discourage consumer. but to inform them of one of the biggest letdowns: doctors who get good at one technique are reluctant to keep up with newer techniques, even if they are improvements. We all like to do what we do best. Learning curves are a problem, especially if practice must happen on paying clients. but one of the most common complaints is a realization a year after the facelift surgery that the 6-month youthfulness was still a bit of swelling, and the 12 month result isn't as good as the 6-month 5-star review a person gave online. Dr. Hamra explains techniques, and the one technique that is harder to find a doctor who will do. A technique that will keep your facelift satisfying for 10 years or more. I've interviewed 3 surgeons so far and all of them are behind the times technique-wise. Thing is, i really liked the personalities of two of them and wanted to trust them with my face. But after reading this book, i realized i wasn't finished interviewing.

This book, while useful, tends to be somewhat self serving of the author. I was hoping for a more objective and professional book.

What Dr. Hamra conveniently forgets to mention in his book is that his procedure - a deep plane face lift was reviewed live in 1996 at the plastic surgery convention competing back to back with less invasive face lift on twins - he and other surgeons were performing surgery during the convention and the results were reviewed 1 year after and 10 years after. Dr. Hamra's procedure LOST fair and square at both: 1 year and 10 year mark since his much self-exalting face lift didn't deliver when the results were reviewed and judged by 700 plastic surgeons present at the convention.
Dr. Hamra waited for the scornful "noise' of his peers (who actually paid each $700 to be present to learn which procedure is better) to calm down and he proceeded with publishing a book glorifying himself and his "achievements' which were discarded by the peer review live.

Don't schedule a face lift without reading this first. I believe that his ideas are the most forward-thinking of any I have read anywhere.
