after the first 2 or 3 listens i started to get a little more used to the new sound - dont get me wrong there is talent in the band and the production is pretty good too...
all in all i like the album but miss the zest the band had in the early days but still a solid effort . . . worth a listen - - -
BTW - the solo works by Meneketti are much better than this album and worth a try by those interested in hot blues / rock - - -some of the material there is almost on par with the Gary Moore Blues CD's which isnt an easy feat by any stretch
There are a number of bands out there that, despite making awesome music for years, never seem to get the proper credit. Y&T, orginally known as Yesterday and Today, is perhaps the most undeserving victim of this fate. The band created an awesome hard rock sound no one else could match, and had their share of pop-flavored hard rock tunes that were moderately successful. Sadly, these poppy tunes becoming the band's most popular ones have resulted in many people overlooking the majority of the band's studio outbut, which is far heavier, and better musically.
Over the years, the band's sound has been all over the place. They began life as a standard AOR-style outfit in the latter half of the 70s, gradually evolving to a hard rock band, and peaking in popularity in the mid 80s when they took on a more commercial sound. The band continues making music to this day.
After over a decade, Facemelter gives us the latest studio output from Y&T. I admit, I was skeptical when this album came out, but it wasn't long before I gave it a listen and it started to win me over. The band's sound on this album is straight-up classic-style hard rock, but there are some modern rock elements to their sound on here as well. The result is a fresh sound that is distinctly Y&T's own, but at the same time is all new. The band is on fire throughout this whole album, and it is easily my favorite release from the band since the 1980s. Usually a band dragging elements of modern rock into their music is a cheap attempt at commercialization, but with Y&T if combines beautifully with their classic hard rock sound.Read more ›
When I found out a new CD was released I couldn't not wait to hear it. And they sure deliver the goods. Dave's vocals to me sound a good as ever and the guitar playing - need I say more. Just incredible. The guitar work on "If You Want Me" alone is worth the price of admission. One of my favorite Y&T tracks ever. No bad songs on this disc.
I had the chance to see Y&T live at the Hard Rock Cafe in Pittsburgh this summer. I have been to many shows - Van Halen, Ted Nugent, Kiss, Iron Maiden, etc. - but this was one of the best. They played for over 2.5 hours, took requests from the audience, signed autographs. Just kicked ass. See this band live!

One of the most laughable uses of such an album title yet. There is literally no facemelting here...none. This is just typical nu-radio rock. Read morePublished 8 months ago by Deimos
They were so good live that I bought this hoping for the best but I'm honestly not impressed. It feels watered down and underwhelming, to be honestPublished 11 months ago by Mr. Wolf

These guys are badass! Bought their first album back in the 70's.
