I'm glad a bought a reconditioned saw. It works great. No problem. Laser alignment is perfect.

Pros:
.Can cut straight - Allow much straighter cut than my jigsaw when using the right technique.
.Laser - This is no gimmick. It's very useful for making straight line. When cutting very long lines and accuracy is required, I still need to use a guide.
.Powerful - It can cut through most things, if you use the appropriate blade.
.Angled cut - The base plate can tilt to make angled cuts.

Cons:
.Wood burn - The included blade is quite sticky to certain kinds of woods. It causes the wood to burn from friction. If you don't have a scrap piece of wood to test out first, you might want to buy a different non-stick coated blade.

Tips:
.Spin the blade to full speed before you let it touch the wood.
.The blade itself is quite thick, so make sure you account for its thickness when you draw the cut line.

I've used it once, on an approximately 2.5" thick concrete slab with an inexpensive Skil diamond blade. I made 2 cuts about 3' each and it did the job no problem, a big job for me in what it actually achieved. I was gonna rent a Makita 14" concrete saw but the price was more than buying this brand new with blade. I used the laser and aimed it at a ruler marker laid on the slab and the cut was quite straight I must say. I've got more concrete I'll have to cut and I'm confident it can be dealt with even if I have to use a sledge hammer.

This was to replace another saw... it is a solid saw! I even am using the stock framing blade that came with it without issue. It is a great rip cutting saw and the laser is a nice guide.

I was surprised that it came with a nice back... which keeps it nice and safe. I even put in my jigsaw Skil saw in there... they are well protected.

CPO shipped this FAST too. One day turn around.

I have been using this saw to cut Hardieplank panel. It has been up to the challenge. The laser guide was accurate right out of the box, did not require any callibration. I expect to get many years of use out of this tool.

I'm 51 years old, and I've never owned a circular saw. I bought this saw primarily because of the price and the brand name. I didn't have much else to rely upon. I'm still haven't mastered all the various options for this saw, but I will say it is surprisingly easy to use. The laser is particularly useful. I paid about $30 for this saw, and I'm satisfied.

Was looking for an affordable circular saw for a project. Decided to save a few dollars and purchase this reconditioned Skil. The saw arrived within two days of purchase (fast shipping!). The craftsmanship of the saw is of high quality. Even though this is my first power saw, I am able to make straight cuts using the laser guide. Plenty of power for my needs. This saw is a good choice for household projects: a little more expensive than some other models, but well worth the price.

Read a lot of reviews of "similar" Skil saws that were not positive, but this one is good. I used this one to cut 2x4, 2x8 and 2x12's for a deck. I messed up installing the blade, but after that, it worked great and cut with no problems. The laser was accurate. Could have used the rip guide that was missing from the saw, and the SAFETY button on the handle is more of a RISK when trying to hold it in and start the cut at the same time. It a real pain in the @## to use and should be eliminated, but other than that, it cuts fine and does the job. Good Value (so far).

This saw is really nice to use. It has a laser that is dead on. I like how I can turn the laser on or off even when I don't have the saw running. I did put a new Skil crosscut blade on it. Good weight, great value.
