Written by a wonderful old Jewish Marxist. This work is a perfect collection of controlled media evidence gathered during the 30's! A must read for all Americans, but readers must be aware of the history of the period, especially our Marxist FDR President and dorky Truman couched in the tragedy of WWI Wilson. Seldes exposes controlled media but, ofc, suppresses the history of his own psychotic ideology, Marxism. Princes fight among themselves but record history nicely. Must read!

Author goes into the whole development of Fascism leading up to WW-II. Of interest is the strong support Fascism had in the United States which has been largely hidden. He identifies, by name, Hitler's supporters in business, banking, and the press. The connections are most revealing. He also goes into the eugenics movement in Germany and the United States, and many other inconvenient truths. Taking what the author has well documented lays the ground work for the almost unbelievable fact that the CIA took in most of the Nazi criminals after WW-II. The program was code named Operation Paperclip. Why would they do that? Apparently because they were setting up a Fascist state in this country, and we are seeing the results of it right now. George Seldes was a courageous American and a master of the written word. He reveals much of America's hidden past that is destroying the country at the present.

I was looking for this remembering it from years ago. Excellent explanation and description of fascism. Despite it set in World War II and using people of that time fill in a name of todays fascists and it still is relevant.

George Seldes is all but forgotten today, but was the I.F. Stone of the early part of the 20th century. His fear was of an American Fascism rather than a Communist state. The first third of this book is an examination of American organizations and movements that he perceived as a threat to American democracy, and a thorough examination of the little known coup plot against Roosevelt and the resulting Congressional investigation by an early HUAC. Read about it in
The Plot to Seize the White House: The Shocking True Story of the Conspiracy to Overthrow FDR
.
A very interesting take on the origins of today's political crises. Buy a copy while still in print and read a few chapters with the benefit of hindsight.

A course on American citizenship should be required for all high school students. This book should be one of the books that students write a review of, in their own words.

This is an excellent study of German fascism supported by international cartels of the 1930s that has relevance for today's world.

A BOOK OF ITS TIME

Like my purchase of 'Three New Deals', (see review), I bought this book when I was researching the history of the New Deal in the USA, In American fascism was originally a cloned variation of Mussolini's attempts to create a new economic order that was branded as the New Deal. This book is snapshot of earlier thought on the subject.
