-Mal and Sawyer. It was impossible not to fall for these guys. They were great, well-rounded characters.
-Chemistry. HOLY. SMOKES. It was palpable. Their conversations, their stares, their touches. I was in romance heaven.
-The romance. I loved feeling their longing for each other and the struggle they felt at trying to fight their feelings. It was delicious.
-Pace. The pace was smooth and quick.
-Narration. The story is told from alternating POVs.
-No unnecessary drama. These men were adults, and they respected each other.
Sadly the end came too soon; I wasn't ready for it to end.
If you're looking for:
-A possessive alpha
-Scorching hot sex scenes
-With a sweet HEA
Then I can't recommend The Faintest Spark by Christina Lee enough!
That desire to stay with them is partially due to the low level of angst in the book. There were opportunities in both characters to milk the angst and cause a lot more conflict, but I didn't really miss it. Both characters had suffered a lot in their past and it was nice to see them catch a break. Also, the chemistry between these two was off the charts. By the time they kissed, I was quivering. We don't get a lot of sexy times, but what we do get...*fans self* Mal is one dirty dirty boy.
All in all, The Faintest Spark was a great Christina Lee fix for me. I literally can't stop smiling. She's made it to my auto-buy list and that's not an easy feat. This book certainly sparkles among the other books in the Roadmap to Your Heart series and it's one I'll come back to again and again while I wait for her next book.
After the horrific events from book one, sawyer is struggling to come to terms with what he has done. Seeing that sawyer isn't getting what he needs from his own prez, he looks out for Sawyer and this is where the lines start to blur.
These guys together are stunning, it's heartfelt and real. While Mal does struggle slightly with his feelings, he is quick to accept what could be his second chance at love.
An amazing finale! ❤
And what passion it was....holy smoke! The heat between these two was off the charts. Rough and tough bikers having dirty, sweaty sex was blazing hot but mixing in the tender loving feelings they had for each other made every encounter more intense. I love when I'm reading a book and I can physically feel their passion for each other. Mal and Sawyer had that in spades!
Now I need to read the rest of this series. I really dig Christina's writing and her characters and Storm, Vaughn and I need to get to know each other much better. I'll definitely be re-reading this book again as I read through the series. I'm sure it'll bring me more perspective on Mal & Sawyer's story and I can't wait!
The author does a good job of filling in the facts the reader needs to know if you haven't read the previous book in the series. It sets up an intriguing scenario of an unlikely friendship between members of two warily cooperative motorcycle gangs, one a President who nobody suspects might be attracted to men.
The best part of the book is the beginning, which describes the budding romantic and sexual feelings between Mal and Sawyer. Once they have their first sexual encounter it becomes rather predictable, and the rest of the book is more sex than romance. Both characters think about the way they first connected, when simply spending time in Mal's company soothed Sawyer's anxieties about his undercover role, and Mal developed protective feelings for Sawyer. I don't know how much of that was featured in the previous book, but that is what I would have preferred to read more about, rather than the detailed sex scenes that end up dominating the relatively short page count.
The latter part of the book deals with the issues of Mal coming out to his gang and how that might affect his authority, as well as how a relationship between the two men might work in practical terms, but it felt like these aspects of the story were underdeveloped. Overall, this novella feels like the middle chunk of a full novel rather than a fully formed story. It has its moments but I found it ultimately a bit of a disappointment.

I really liked these 2 characters a lot. Very sweet, no angst story. I haven't read book 1 in a while and didn't really remember that story but had no trouble...Read more
