Editorial Reviews

Kate Reed (Sarah Shahi, The L Word) never faced a fight she didn’t want…to win.  A former lawyer, she’s now a mediator who loves to resolve others’ conflicts.  But it’s often her own conflicts that could use some attention. In season two, Kate returns to the firm and discovers that Reed & Reed is on the verge of financial collapse.  To save the firm, up-and-coming trial attorney Ben Grogan (Ryan Johnson, CSI: NY) is brought on as a partner.  However, Kate finds herself both clashing with Ben’s aggressive, ambulance-chasing ways and yet, romantically drawn to him.  Further complicating matters are Kate’s relationships with managing partner/stepmother Lauren Reed (Virginia Williams, How I Met Your Mother) and soon-to-be-ex-husband A.D.A. Justin Patrick (Michael Trucco, Revenge).  Watch all 13 original, witty, and absolutely unpredictable episodes of the series critics call “funny and sexy” (Mary McNamara, Los Angeles Times).

i watched this series while it was playing on usa. at the very first part of this season i hated ben. i thought he was pompous and condescending. though as the season played out, it felt as though we were peeling away the many layers of the onion and finding that ben was good to his core and a much better suited match for kate than justin. asside from this, i loved the cases and the care kate showed throughout the series to coming to a good resolution in all matters. i loved how she didn't see just black and white but she saw the win/win in all situations. good series, it will be missed.

It's been said quite a few times in the reviews of this show. Great show and why for the love of Pete does something like this get canned and a heaping pile of garbage "reality" and spammed buddy detective series coming out of our ears stay afloat. If MTV the "music" channel can survive with complete trash shows and NO music (why.... just why MTV) why can't something different get paid for by all the big bucks being made by networks from shows that are absolute brain rotting refuse.

    Hi, All!

This is going to be a difficult review? Being a quy, of course Sara is a beautiful and sexy woman and I enjoy all the moments she's in focus. She has the looks and big personalty but that's kind of the problem. In the show, she acts as a mediator (kind of a lawyer, not my favorite profession); when she's at the office (she's funny, talking to people she likes (not issues, cases or to these serious actors and cases that I don't care the least about!). So, that's about it, the conflict (a very pretty, smart and very personable woman OR the moments she has to involve herself with all these tiresome issues and people?).

If interested, you'll just have to take a chance? I'd rent a couple of (SD) episodes and test your tastes? Also, I bought Season 1 which is really more about the cases (boring, even annoying, I wouldn't buy it!). This 2nd season has a new character (Ben Grogan, who has a love interest for Kate Reed (who wouldn't, makes it personal and funny) a way better season to me!

Also, to my tastes, episodes 1, 5,6,7 & 10 were the better, more Kate & Ben; less court cases or Justin (old husband), and any other stuff!

TIP: Sarah is so beautiful, so besides the above I would really recommend her quest appearance on REBA (6.10). To say she's so sexy is an understatement. She just looks fantastic!

I believe the new character of Ben adds to the show, even if he is only a thorn in Kates side. Yeah for Lauren, learning to get on with her life. Maybe the blowing up of Teddy's boat is a sign for them all to move on. Love the show and this episode.

Kate Reed is amazing! I love how unique the characters are, especially Kate and Justin. This show is seriously one of the best on USA. Kate Reed the mediator is so fresh, creative and entertaining.

There are no cons about this series.......well written, well acted, entertaining, you name it. There is no reason this show should have been discontinued. Big mistake.

This is a fun, enjoyable show with engaging characters and plausible story lines.

Kate Reed is developing well in depth and character. The struggles in her love life provide a good undercurrent to the legal drama. It's disappointing the show has been cancelled as there isn't enough wholesome TV available to watch. I expect Sarah Shahi will turn up in another show based on her performances across these 2 seasons.

USA Network has a bad track record of canceling good shows. This show was funny and had great characters, but they pulled the plug. I have to admit that I have a Sarah Shahi bias, if she's in it I'll watch. But, having said that, the show was funny and it wasn't your typical TV legal drama. As a mediator the situations could be a lot more ridiculous than court cases, so there were so many more opportunities for humor.
