Hot-headed fire wizard Natsu and his team of high-powered pals are back! Harnessing the forces of dragon fire, ice, weaponry, and the zodiac, four young wizards from the infamous magical guild Fairy Tail team up. In season two the friends unite with other guilds to take on one of the darkest guilds in the wizarding world!
This eagerly awaited collection marks the beginning of the second season of the hit fantasy-adventure Fairy Tail. The new season begins slowly, with a series of slapstick episodes about romance. In an attempt to win Gray's love, water wizard Juvia buys a magic potion, but it backfires and makes anyone who smells it attack what they perceive as an enemy. Erza squares off against one of the pillars supporting the Guild Hall roof, while Gray charges the horizon line. The main storyline introduces a lot of new characters. Unfortunately, the most important new friend is Wendy, a young girl with formidable powers who never talks when she can whine. The most powerful foes are the demonlike members of the Dark Guild Oracion Seis, who are seeking the staggeringly powerful magic known as Nirvana. They force Wendy to revive Jellal, the redoubtable wizard the Fairy Tail Guild defeated the previous season. When he unseals Nirvana, it manifests itself as pillar of light that causes anyone whose heart is wavering between good and evil to switch sides. This topsy-turvy magic plays well in the Fairy Tail universe, with comic results. But when Brain, the leader of the Oracion Seis, takes control of Nirvana, it assumes its ultimate form: an ancient fortress-city capable of wreaking unprecedented destruction. Naturally, the wizards of the Fairy Tail Guild are prepared--and in Natsu's case, eager--to fight the Oracion Seis and end Nirvana's reign of terror before it begins. Along the way, the filmmakers provide plenty of the quarrels, broad comedy, and flamboyant battles otaku love. In one particularly entertaining sequence, Gray has to ally with his old classmate/rival Lyon to defeat Speedy of the Oracion Seis with their ice magic. ok now onto my review lol, i felt this part 1 went by fast i have re-watched it 3 times already and its still good, but leaves you on a cliff hanger, but part 2 is out in a few weeks, (just hope its price drops).
overall i believe fairy tail is one of the best modern animes around, it has things for all ages and brings a lot to the table without being repetitive or stale, and will always have the ability to inspire those who watch it. so my only complaint is that it was to quick to watch, other than that no issues and highly recommend it
Now for the content. The first few episodes are just like prior in-between story arc episodes that were very humorous and entertaining with hints of the coming conflict. Then the story begins to really unfold as familiar faces begin to reappear as allies or foes to keep you on the edge of wondering what happens next. There were a few shocking surprises I didn't see coming as well as those that appeared to be predictable before taking a sudden deviation from what I expected. The story goes to highlight how Fairy Tail's strongest team continue to grow as individuals as well as in their abilities. That is a plus as the stagnation of character growth can wear a series down. No such feeling with this saga.
This arc ties into past arcs as Fairy Tail members and their allies take on more powerfully dangerous wizards. It contains all the elements fans of this series enjoy with the quirky humor, action, great story, and lovable characters. The English voice actors continue to be amazing in their capturing the variety of emotions and quirkiness of the series. I definitely recommend continuing the adventure with this volume. If you are new to Fairy Tail, I highly recommend to start watching this series from the beginning and strong recommendation as a must have to any anime fan's collection! It is certainly one of those rare series I will keep coming back to.
the quality of this product is good i didn't have any issues with any of the disks and i like the fact that i can play them in both dvd AND bluray!
hope you guys enjoy the show it's awesome!

Before we can get to the main focus of the volume, the first couple of episodes are semi-filler stories. The first of these two episodes (episode 49) deals with the immediate aftermath of the Fighting Festival and has to deal with the imminent arrival of a reporter from Sorcerer Weekly magazine. This was an entertaining episode but it does lose a little importance due to the visit by the reporter being moved from before to after the Fighting Festival arc as in the manga it was the article that the reporter wrote that was the last straw for Lexus and caused him to set the arc in motion. The move just made the event comedic filler. The second of the semi-filler episodes (episode 50) sees Lucy worrying about her love life and Juvia trying out a potion she got from a shady merchant. This episode what some entertaining moments and is at least partially based on a bonus story from the manga but is mostly just fluffy comedy.
Episode 51 sees Lucy's father come turn up again but she still wants nothing to do with him. Despite this however she is still ready to fight for him when she hears he could be in danger. This was a good episode and allows Lucy to show what she is truly capable of when she puts her mind to it and gives here the chance to shine when her friends aren't around.
The rest of the episodes in this volume (52 to 60) cover the beginning of the Oración Seis arc that sees Fairy Tail team up with three other guilds (Blue Pegasus, Lamia Scale and Cait Shelter) to take down the powerful Dark Guild. Although the Oración Seis number just six members, they are all extremely powerful and they are looking for a powerful magical weapon that could spread darkness across the world. This is definitely one of the better arcs of the series and introduces a number of interesting characters for both the enemies and the other allied guilds. The arc also introduces Wendy and Carla who will become important to the series as a whole and sees the return of an old enemy. The anime also adds somewhat to the background of the Oración Seis members and adds a few more scenes to some of the minor fights of the arc. The action in general in the episodes of this volume is very entertaining. Gray and Lyon fighting Racer was very good with some nice powers and tactics on display. Lucy also gets a good fight as she goes up against Angel, who has a history with Lucy's Celestial Spirits.
The animation of the series remains as good as it always has been for the series, as does the voice acting for the English dub (the Japanese is included as well of course). The voices for the new characters introduced in this arc are all relatively good. Chris Guerrero is good as Blue Pegasus' Ichiya as are Kent Williams as Lamia Scale's Jura and Brittney Karbowski as Cait Shelter's Wendy. The only voices I am not much of a fan of are Micah Solusod as Oración Seis member Midnight and Jad Saxton as Cait Shelter's Carla but I am sure I will get used to them as the show progresses.
The extras of for the volume are somewhat basic consisting of the usual cast commentaries, trailers and textless songs.
Overall this fifth volume of 'Fairy Tail' is a very entertaining one and is well worth a full five stars.
