I want you to hum “When You Wish Upon A Star”, sing out loud to “Tale As Old As Time”, waltz around the room to “One Day My Prince Will Come”, I need you to remember the shivers that went up your spine the first time you heard “Can You Feel The Love Tonight”. I want you to repeat those magical words of Bibbidi, Bobbidi Boo… I want you to believe in magic once again.
If you can do any of that (without feeling the least bit silly) – then you have found the hidden treasure chest that is Fairytale Beginnings.
Cameron and Milly are such a charming, delightful couple. Clover Castle is a magical place filled with secret passages, hidden rooms, buried treasure, a few ghosts, and a magic that will steal your heart. Step onto the greens of the village that surely has not changed for centuries, and is home to a wonderful cast of characters – many of whom you just might recognize their counterparts. A village with a protective dragon, a mystical ceremony and the feel of happily ever after each day of the year.
No, I’m not going to tell you this tale. You need to go pick this novel up and drown in the magic, the wonder and the love of two people who are living a fairytale – and yes there is an evil villainess, I’m certain you can pick her out easily. The cover description is enough to give you a taste of what is to come – the rest you should discover for yourself. I will say this… Fairytale Beginnings is pure unadulterated magical fun. And no one should spoil that fun for you before you read it for yourself. Go ahead, step into an enchanted forest and live the magic once again. Originally reviewed at Keeper Bookshelf (dot) com
No, this isn't going to be a book that will make you think deeper, or delve further into your conscious... It's a fun and lighthearted book that is pure entertainment. Combining the love of mystical castles, Disney Princesses and the modern woman it's a perfect new century Fairytale for the modern woman.
Milly isn't your average "Historian" or castle buff, she's a perky 28 year old who sports blonde hair (with pink tips of course) and bedazzled Pink Converse. When she arrives at her latest job, Clover Castle, the heir to the crumbling castle at first glance doesnt have faith that she's the man (or woman) for the job. However, it doesn't take long for Cameron to realize that there's more to Milly than sparkle.
Cameron has just inherited the family castle. Milly, who is a lover of all things Disney Princess is more than a little excited and enthralled when she discovers the family curse and discovers that she might just be the key to unlocking the over 1000 year old curse.
With villagers who are less than normal, and an annual tradition called the "Summer Solstice" and three little old ladies who are more like your village witches, Cameron & Milly find themselves bound together for all of time. Things couldn't be going better for the pair.
That is until Cameron's assistant, Olivia comes back. Olivia is less than thrilled with the newly arrived "fair maiden" Milly. Cameron it seems has been unlucky in love, having had a few past relationships go sour after the women sold their stories about the "Author" and heir. Olivia it seems is trying to prevent Cameron from making the same mistake again....
This was definitely a fun and quirky little book. I felt that there could have been a little more to the Olivia storyline to make it a tad more believable. There were some pieces of the puzzle that I felt weren't thoroughly answered (like a family heirloom necklace) and that the author seemed to not really bring full circle. However, it was a nice read.
I enjoyed the book as I would most fairy tales. Once you suspend belief, it is a fun read. I enjoyed all the secret passages and ghosts too.
Absolutely loved the mystic Clover Castle with it's ghost (SO SCARY), weird town people that scream oggie oggie at strangers (HA weirdos haha), curses (OHHHH DO TELL MORE), and secret passageways to discover (SO AWESOME)
An enjoyable read with lots of Disney references, and wishes for the happily ever after kind of love.
