First off, I purchased this game when it was 39.99 and even though a month later it went to 19.99 I was not annoyed because I felt it was well worth the money I spent.

Yes, it is frustrating at times (mostly due to timing/jumping etc.) However, the fact that 9 people, between the ages of 13 and 38, who I've personally played this game with (and who have LOVED this game) seem to prove the frustrations don't overpower the fun.

There are 3 different difficulties.
4 different characters (rumored to be more in development: [...] )
1-4 players offline (same console)
1-4 players online (xbox Live)
Over 150 weapons you can find.
It also has an arena mode that allows for just beating eachother up for a few minutes, not exactly a big selling point, but it's an added option.

Mostly what makes the game difficult is the view and as I already stated, the timing. Every boss requires you to memorize the sort of pattern they use with their attacks. Once you realize how it works it is very easy to defeat the boss. I don't see how that is any different than some games from the late 80s and early 90s, and I don't see people giving the original mega man series one star ratings... in fact, quite the opposite.

Overall, it is a very quirky and fun hack'n'slash/slice'n'dice game.
It is not a game for someone looking for super-easy achievements or absolutely no challenge whatsoever.
If you often find yourself in the situation I often found myself in where you have friends over but only have rock band or hasbro family game night to entertain 4 players with, then this game could quite possibly be the perfect solution for you.

Fairytale Fighters is a strange animal top to bottom it's a old school hack and slash with platforming elements

Gameplay:
This game is actually very slick and fun it's like a retro Arcade title (This is the type of Arcade game i could see being next to MK II and NBA Jam in a real arcade)
It's like Golden Axe on bath salt it's just flat out insane..... the death animation and some of the cut scenes are brave and unique

Graphics: the Art style should be a huge reason to pick this up
There hasn't been many games in the last 15 years that has this look
the developers mashed-up South Park with Claymation to get the over all style
and it works

Controls:
The controls are blah! they are not terrible but, they just feel off
you use weapons with the right analog stick
you pick up items with the left trigger you go through-your weapons with the L1 Button
the platforming is hit and miss (mostly due to the fixed camera angle)
The fixed camera also effects different range weapons you can pick up
at times it's hard to judge if you are able to hit your target
you'll miss more then connect that's for sure

The layout of the game is just very convoluted
your game hub is weird you are never fully sure what to do and where to go
The Save system also is flat out wacky (the game saves at various times but, there is No save file anywhere on your console (I guess it's built into the disc???) I looked for the file on my 360 HD then, the cloud, then the external HD and still couldn't find it

Once you get past the strange control layout and some of the minor problems
It's a real hidden Gem that nobody really talks about.....

Fairytale Fights is great fun, if you know what you are getting into. I knew, and I am enjoying it to it's fullest potential. Let me break it down into.......

Pro's and Con's
~Good storyline ~Repetitive area's (at times)
~Great graphics ~A little too much fighting
~Good sound effects ~Annoying camera
~Easy to learn controls

Summary: Fairytale Fights is a great game with an amusing story line, amazing graphics, and high quality sound effects. There is good music playing lightly in the background throughout the game, and has online and offline multiplayer features. Although the camera can get annoying, and repetitive fighting is prevalent, this is still a great, fun, amusing title.

"Do you want to skate in the blood?" This is how my friend introduced me to this game. My answer was yes, of course, and she proceeded to hand me a controller to play. At first I had no idea how to play, evidenced by my high death count and low jewel count, but I quickly got the hang of it.

This game is not for the faint of heart, or that of a nervous disposition. The game is a wonderful take on fairy tales, and for those who would love to take an axe to 'Prince Charming' this is your chance. The weapons range from useful (Woodcutters Axe) to the seemingly-useless (Carrot). Each level has it's challenges, with the earlier levels being quite easy and the later levels being infuriatingly difficult. However, the levels last longer than you realize (especially when you try to save).

I recommend this to anyone. It's great fun alone, and even better with another player.
