Interesting book but the ending leaves the reader hanging and unsatisfied.

Interesting book with a very abrupt ending. I liked this book even though I thought it should have and could have been more cohesive. I could not figure out what was going on for the first half of the book. It all becomes clear if you stick with it, though. Sticking with it, despite the confusion isn't really that difficult because you really want to know more about these interesting people. My biggest regret was the abrupt unresolved ending. I think that rather than being unable to come up with a satisfying ending, the author wanted to leave the reader feeling like the husband feels: that he is destined to live a life without resolution. I didn't care for that unresolved feeling. I felt let down and I think it makes the book feel unfinished.

I have so many things to say about this book, I'm afraid I'll forget something.
First, BEST Heather Muzik work yet!
Corinne goes missing and I just about went crazy right along with Drew. It was different to see this story from his perspective when my instinct was to wonder if there was evidence, did they check her phone records, was her credit card used. Very scientific details. No, instead Heather Muzik takes us deep into the darkness of Drew's despair, all while he tries to keep his children innocent.
I was leery of Melanie and her relationship with Paul. I was a nervous wreck when she was heading into the attic and I didn't even know why.
These are deep complex characters that you think you know. You might think you've got it all figured out and know exactly what they should do, or what will happen next.
You'll be wrong.

This is the quality of writing that you're used to seeing on the bestseller lists!

This plot of the story was intriguing; however, the ending seemed exceedingly juvenile"ish" to me. From the antics of the 10 year old child the author might better have cast her a few years older. I did read the book to its end and until the end I enjoyed the book and would have rated it higher.
