This story is about two people called to the mission field and while doing God's work the husband, Quinn is captured by rebels and held for six years. Life goes on for his wife Cassie who believes he is still alive somewhere even though there have been reports of his death.
Cassie finds out she is pregnant and the day she plans to tell Quinn about the baby he is captured along with four other missionaries. The story picks up six years later with Quinn's release. Quinn held on to his faith during the first few years but gradually looses his faith while tortured mentally and physically. He is a shell of himself on his release and doesn't feel anything for his wife Cassie and God.
We follow them through the story as they struggle to find each other, their faith, and the path back to a happy marriage. We also follow some of the other missionaries that were captured and their struggles.
I loved this book! It was modern and believable, the characters struggled with their faith but never lost it. If you enjoy a good Christian romance with a modern story you will love this book and this author.
Patience, determination and love wins out in this amazing story. Just be sure to keep a box of tissues close by because when you are not crying tears of sadness and heartbreak you will be crying tears of joy. Great book. It surely shows that God's ways are divinely above our ways.
But it was good too read about a couple who took their views seriously and didn't consider their marriage disposable as the world's in general does.
It's nice to find authors who write these good wholesome books who can help strengthen testimonies. Who help you to realize that you are not alone when deaLing with spiritual trying test.
The book opens with the return of a missionary pilot who had spent the last 6 years in the South American jungles after he was captured by rebels. Cassie, his wife, is crushed when the reunion fails to be all she had dreamed it could be. He seems to have lost two very important things during captivity: his faith in God and his love for her.
Full of tender emotion, this book will encourage and challenge your depth of commitment to Christ and your spouse.
