My first encounter with Timber Hawkeye's inspiring gifts was on Facebook where a friend shared a quote from "Buddist Bootcamp". There began my journey out of my desperate situation. Mama had transitioned, but I was still the caretaker for my daddy. I was still miles and miles away from my children and grandchildren and I was still alone most of the time. However, with "Buddist Bootcamp" and other readings that Timber Hawkeye suggested on his website, my "mind" changed. I began to remembered what my soul knew was true. I remembered how to choose happiness.
My growth continued while reading " Faithfully Religionless". Timber articulated MY belief about God and faith and religion in a way that I was incapable. Thank you Timber! One of the chapters that resonated with me was about death. I am 64 years old and had just been telling my almost 40 year old daughter that when I was her age, I became aware of the "SECRET OF LIFE", to let go of the fear of death. I encouraged her to practice thinking of her own non-being to be able to let go of her own fear. In "Faithfully Religionless", Timber Hawkeye tells of his near death experience and how it molded his relationship with death. It is not a morbid idea of death but a way to let go and allow the inevitable.
Again, thank you Timber Hawkeye, for "turning"
me around to remember what my soul knows to be true. I will continue to follow you and your work as well as other reading you suggest. Now, my friend, Timber, I bow to you with love and deep gratitude. Namaste.
Reading this book, and especially listening to the audiobook, feels like you're sitting having a wonderful conversation with a new friend. Or - if you've met Timber through Buddhist Boot Camp, an old friend. There are so many stories that he tells about his life that I identify with. Timber has put into words, things that I have felt for many years. It is so beautiful to know that someone else has experienced the same heartache, and the same sins and has come out the other side in pure radiance.
